π₯π WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY ππ₯
Today is World Mental Health Day, and I think it's a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of something that affects so many people.
In this day and age, nobody should feel ashamed or weak for talking about their mental health. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength! π
I'm certainly no expert on the subject, but from what I understand and the stories I've heard, the fear of being judged is one of the biggest reasons people struggle to open up, even to their closest friends and family.
We know that physical exercise can have a positive impact on our mental wellbeing. It can help lift your mood, build confidence, provide structure and give you something positive to focus on when life gets difficult.
Taking part in group activities, like martial arts, can also be a fantastic way to meet new people, make friends, feel part of something and build confidence in yourself. π₯πͺ
As a karate instructor, I'm incredibly proud to be part of USKO, a family-run organisation that has been going strong since 1996!
Over the years, I've seen first-hand the positive impact our classes have had on people's lives. And it's not just about learning karate, getting fit or earning belts. It's about confidence, friendship, belonging and supporting one another.
I'm not a mental health professional, and I would never pretend to be. But one thing I will always encourage is talking about how you feel. Whether that's to family, friends, someone you trust or one of the many fantastic mental health support services available, please don't feel you have to face everything alone.
Whatever your goals may be, keep working towards them. Take things one day at a time, celebrate the small victories and remember that everyone faces their own battles.
And most importantly...
If you're struggling, don't be afraid to ask for help. You are never weak for needing support! π
Look after yourselves and each other! ππ
