Holy Spirit of fire,
flame everlasting, so bright and clear,
speak this day in our hearts.
Lighten our darkness and purge us of fear,
Holy Spirit of fire.
The wind can blow or be still,
or water be parched by the sun.
A fire can die into dust
but here the eternal Spirit of God
tells us a new world’s begun
Holy Spirit of love,
strong are the faithful who trust your pow’r.
Love who conquers our will,
teach us the words of the gospel of peace,
Holy Spirit of love.
The wind can blow or be still,
or water be parched by the sun.
A fire can die into dust
but here the eternal Spirit of God
tells us a new world’s begun
Holy Spirit of God,
flame everlasting, so bright and clear,
spark this day in our hearts.
Lighten our darkness and purge us of fear,
Holy Spirit of God.
The wind can blow or be still,
or water be parched by the sun.
A fire can die into dust
but here the eternal Spirit of God
tells us a new world’s begun

EL CONDOR PASA
SIMON & GARFUNKEL
I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail
Yes I would, if I could
I surely would
Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground
He gives the world
It's saddest sound
It's saddest sound
I'd rather be a hammer than a nail
Yes I would, if I only could
I surely would
Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground
He gives the world
It's saddest sound
It's saddest sound
I'd rather be a forest than a street
Yes I would, if I could
I surely would
Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground
He gives the world
It's saddest sound
It's saddest sound
I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet
Yes I would, if I only could
I surely would

As a child I a had a book from school I wrote my favourite songs in.
It was how I a learned them and I have never forgot any of them.

I have 100s of song in my head and like writing them out.

OLD COTTAGE WAITING IN THE COUNTRY
JOHN HOGAN
There's an old cottage waiting in the country
waiting for someone to call
There's an old kettle boiling on the fire
there's an old welcome mat in the hall
There's an old mom and dad there a waitin
for a son that's been gone for so long
There's an old cottage waiting in the country
waiting for that boy to come home
Many years ago he had to leave them
And travel far across the foaming sea
To fight for the things that he believed in
With a song and a guitar on his knee
But they hoped and prayed he'd return to them
Though the weeks slowly turned into years
Many nights they had been so lonely
And many nights there have been many tears
There's an old cottage waiting in the country
Waiting for someone to call
There's an old kettle boiling on the fire
There's an old welcome mat in the hall
There's an old mom and dad there a waiting
For a son that's been gone for so long
There's an old cottage waiting in the country
Waiting for that boy to come home
The old man is tired and weary
His back bent over with age
The old woman she sits by the fire
And just gazes into the flames
On a table that's standing beside her
Are the pictures of the son she misses so
The son she held and kissed so dearly
When he left her so many years ago
There's an old cottage waiting in the country
Waiting for someone to call
There's an old kettle boiling on the fire
There's an old welcome mat in the hall
There's an old mom and dad there a waiting
For a son that's been gone for so long
There's an old cottage waiting in the country
Waiting for that boy to come home
There's an old cottage waiting in the country
Waiting for that boy to come home

LONG ARM OF THE LAW
AS SUNG BY
KENNY ROGER'S
In Cumberland Kentucky
On a cool autumn evening
Billy lay in love with Marianne
She was a rich judge's daughter
He was the son of a miner
But that night their love
was more than they could stand
The judge said too his daughter
That son of that coal miner
Is someone you'd do well to leave alone
She knew her dad too well
She knew she couldn't tell
But the truth was bound to show before too long
Their love had started growing on it's own
You can't outrun the long arm of the law
No, you can't outrun the long arm of the law
Billy placed his hand on Mary
And felt the baby moving
Kissed her and said
I'll see you when I can
The judge had a made a promise
When he caught up with Billy
He'd send him far away from Marianne
The whole town knew he'd do it
Too many time's he'd prove it
To at least a hundred men behind the wall
He'd smile behind that frown
And when he brought that gavel down
He called himself
the long arm of the law
And he'd set his mind on seeing Billy fall
In a hot and humid mine shack
The midwife pulled the sheet back
And placed a cool damp towel on Marianne
Billy eye's were wide with wonder
From the spell he was under
When she placed the new born baby in his hands
He didn't the hear the siren
Just the baby crying
That miracle of love was all he saw
When the door came crashing down
And Billy turned around
He felt the heart and soul inside him fall
He stood face to face
With the long arm of the law
You can't outrun the long arm of the law
No, you can't outrun the long arm of the law
You can hide out for a while
He say's with a smile
But you can't outrun the long arm of the law
Seemed like everybody in Cumberland Kentucky
Came out that day to see poor Billy's trial
The court was called to order
There sat the judge's daughter
She looked so proud
holding Billy's child
When they brought Billy to him
The judge just looked right through him
As he held the holy bible in his hand
Then he smiled at his grandson
And his eye's cut back to Billy
He said I think this time the law will understand
Son, I sentence you to life with
Marianne
You can't outrun the long arm of the law
No, you can't outrun the long arm of the law
He said to Billy with a smile
I know you hid out for a while
But you can't outrun the long arm of the law
No, you cant outrun the long arm of the law

A PLACE IN THE CHOIR
FOSTER & ALLEN
All god's creature's got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing high
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap there hand's or paw's or anything they got now
Listen to the base, its the one on the bottom, where the bullfrog croak's and the hippopotamus moans and groans at the big to do, the old cow just goes' moo
The dogs and the cat's, they take up the middle, where the honey bee hums and the cricket fiddle's, the donkey bray's and the pony neigh's, the old grey badger sigh's
All god's creature's got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing high
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap there hand's or paw's or anything they got now
Listen to the top when the little bird's singing and the melody's and the high note's ringing and the hoot owl cries over everything and the blackbird disagrees
Singing in the night time singing in the day, the little duck quack's and he's on his way, the otter has got much to say and the porcupine talk's to himself
All god's creature's got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing high
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap there hand's or paw's or anything they got now
Its a simple song, little everywhere by the ox and the fox and the grizzly bear, the grumpy alligator and the hawk above, the sly old weasel and the turtle dove
All god's creature's got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing high
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap there hand's or paw's or anything they got now
All god's creature's got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing high
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire
Some just clap there hand's or paw's or anything they got now

IF I COULD ONLY STAY ASLEEP
PATSY CLINE
Last night I dreamed, of you sweetheart
Once more you loved me, you said we'd never part
Its dawn again, oh how sad am I
My dream has ended and tear's fill my eye's
Dead leave's swirling around my feet, like memories from the past
Each leaf reminds me of a dream, a dream that wouldn't last
For once I know, your promise you would keep
If I could only, only stay asleep
Dead leave's swirling around my feet, like memories' from the past
Each leaf reminds of a dream, a dream that wouldn't last
For once I know, your promise you would keep
If I could only, only stay asleep

THE STREETS OF NEW YORK
THE WOLFE TONES
I was 18 yrs old when I went down to Dublin,
With a fist full of money and a cart load of dreams.
Take Your time, ,says me father stop rushing like hell
And remember all is not what it seems to be.
For there's fellas would cut you, for the coat on your back or the watch that you got from your mother,
So take care me young bucko and mind yourself well and will you give this wee note to me brother.
At the time uncle Benji was a policeman in Brooklyn,
And me father the youngest looked after the farm.
When a phone call from America,
Said send the lad over
And the old fella says sure it wouldn't do any harm
For I've spent my life working this dirty old ground,
For a few pints of porter and the smell of a pound
And sure maybe there's something you'll learn or you'll see
And you can bring it back home make it easy on me.
So I landed at Kennedy and a big yellow taxi carried me and my bags through the streets and the rain
Well me poor heart was thumping around with excitement and I hardly even heard
What the driver was saying
We came in the shore parkway to the flatlands of Brooklyn
To my uncles apartment on East 53rd
I was feeling so happy
I was humming a song
and I sang your as free as a bird.
Well to shorten the story what I found out that day, was that Benji got shot down in an uptown foray
and while i was flying my way to New York, poor Benji was lying in a cold city morgue
Well I phoned up the old fella told him the news
I could tell he could hardly stand up in his shoes
and he wept as he told me go ahead with the plan and not to forget be a proud IRISHMAN.
So I went up to Nellie's beside Fordham Rd and I started to learn about lifting the load
but the healthiest that I carried that year, ,was the bitter sweet thoughts my home town so dear
I went home that December cause the old fella died
Had to borrow the money from Phil on the side, ,and all the bright flowers and brass couldn't hide
the poor wasted face of me father
I sold up the old farm yard for what it was worth and into my bank stuck a hand full of earth
Then I bordered a train and a caught me a plane and I found myself back in the US again
It's been 22 years since I've set foot in DUBLIN
me kids know to use the correct knife and fork
But I'll never forget the green grass and the rivers as I keep law and order on the
