Understanding artist's style and experimenting with it in your own work is an essential part of skill building and developmentif unique artistic practice. Scarlett, 11 years, shows a ckear understanding of this capability.

On the left is a copy of artist's work that Scarlett made using a step by step demo. On the right is a painting she created. The process involved in her work on the right is quite mature for her young age. It requires:
1- Finding a glass goblet to photograph
2- Setting up and photographing the glass in a dark background to capture the similar light vs dark contrast in the original work.
3- Planning the colours to indicate the light vs dark - notice how Scarlett chose to use cooler purples for this
4- Understanding the play of light and painting it in the style of the artist.

The real skill is in showing the understanding of the artist's style but keeping the outcome still unique.
