National Skipping Day Friday 28 March 2025
Once again we are inviting schools to join in a celebration of healthy exercise through skipping………. National Skipping Day 2025.
The main theme for 2025 is "promoting playground skipping".
To encourage schools to introduce and develop a range of playground skipping games we are offering schools a free package of support; this involves……..
2 free four-metre skipping ropes to help you get started
& links to our video clips that illustrate several skipping games
& copy of the ‘Double Dutch handbook’ an excellent guide written by a PE teacher NB; we have 100 pairs of DD ropes to give away & 30 copies of the DD handbook…………….. ‘first come, first served’
Please note, this is a "just for fun" event; there is NO registration fee, no fundraising and no prizes. It is simply an attempt to encourage thousands of children to have some healthy exercise through skipping

Final scores for the 2023/24 National Skipping Challenge

Schools cup:
First place………….. Lovelace Primary, Chessington……. 187 points
Second place…………… Collis Primary, Teddington………..80 points
Third Place………………. Green Lane Primary, Worcester Park…. 30 points
Individual cup
First place………Alfie Makriel, Collis Primary…….. 47 points
Second place………. Toby Miller, Lovelace Primary….. 26 points
Third place……. Bailey O’Connor, Collis Primary………. 19 points

Altogether we had entries from 27 schools and 265 children.

The schools cup will be presented at Lovelace Primary School on Wednesday 17th July at mid-day. The cup will be presented by Jamie Pettitt. The cup was first awarded in 1997 and the winner that year was Jamie Pettitt, then aged 11! Jamie will do a brief presentation of the skills she learnt in all those years ago.
The individual cup will be awarded at Collis Primary School on Tuesday 23 July at 11.00am
Previous winners of the schools’ cup have come from Merton, Grimsby, Plymouth, Oswestry, The Isle of Man, Bristol, South Glouctershire, Seer Green ( Bucks), Kingston and Richmond. Lovelace is the sixth Kingston school to win the award after Latchmere, St Paul’s Junior, King Athelstan’s, St John’s and Malden Parochial.

National Skipping Day

Once again we are inviting schools to join in a celebration of healthy exercise through skipping………. National Skipping Day 2024
The main theme for 2024 is "promoting playground skipping". To support schools that participate, we will email to you the resources for this year's Traditional Playground Games incentive.
If your school wishes to take part in the 20th Anniversary of this national event, please return your details, as indicated below, to Skipping Workshops.
Please note, this is a "just for fun" event; there is NO registration fee, no fundraising and no prizes. It is simply an attempt to encourage thousands of children to have some healthy exercise through skipping.

In addition, if you do book a day-visit we will donate two French Skipping elastics, two 4m ropes and one 8m rope (worth £35) for you to continue the skipping rhymes and games we will introduce.

Once again we are inviting schools to join in a celebration of healthy exercise through skipping………. National Skipping Day 2023
Skipping Workshops was established in the 1997/1998 academic year so we are delighted to be celebrating 25 years of promoting skipping in schools nationwide. Not surprisingly then, our theme for NSD23 is……………….. 25!
If you register you will be sent our free guide to NSD 23, which will include:
25 different skips to challenge children of all ages and abilities
A 25 skip video challenge
A 25 skip challenge as part of our well established website skipping challenge.
For schools taking an active part in our website challenge we are offering a free gift of 25 solar skipping ropes ( worth £150!). We also have some special ‘Skipping Workshops’ medals to reward children that get actively involved. Details on how to claim your free ropes & medals will be explained in our free guide which will be sent to all schools registering for NSD23.

We take pride in our coaches’ abilities to teach a class with huge differences, adapting each session to fit with the dynamics of every child in the class.

Skipping Workshops are hiring coaches for after-school skipping clubs.

Starting in September, you’d need to be available to visit schools around Kingston, late afternoons, at least one day a week.

Pay ranges from 25 to £40 per one-hour session. Training can be given.
