🌟 Year 14 Leavers BBQ Celebration 🌟
Today we had the pleasure of celebrating our incredible Year 14 students at their Leavers BBQ – a fitting send-off for a truly fantastic year group.
Throughout their time at Devenish College, particularly since the start of their senior journey in Year 13, these students have shown outstanding resilience, determination, and a positive attitude towards their studies. Along the way they have encountered challenges and obstacles, but they stayed the course and successfully completed their journey with us – something they should be extremely proud of.
Many of our Year 14 cohort have been part of the Devenish College family since Year 8, and they will be greatly missed by all staff. While we say goodbye, we reminded them that our doors remain open – we are always here to support them wherever their next steps may take them.
We wish each and every one of them the very best as they await their exam results in August, and we have no doubt they will go on to excel in whatever paths they choose.
The BBQ was a wonderful occasion attended by form teachers, the Year Head, teaching and support staff, the Senior Leadership Team, Mr Mowbray, and members of the Board of Governors.
A big thank you to Hot Rocks BBQ for the delicious food, and to Nathan and his ice cream van for providing the perfect sweet finish to a great afternoon! 🍔🍦
👏 Well done, Year 14 – we are so proud of you!

Celebration Day at Devenish College— a fantastic finale bringing everyone together one last time 🎉
Each event has strengthened our partnership and created meaningful connections between students from all three schools. The enthusiasm, respect and teamwork shown throughout the year have been outstanding.

🏅 Sports Day 2026 – A Fantastic Week Comes to a Close! 🏅
On Friday afternoon, we gathered in the Sports Hall to celebrate the conclusion of an outstanding week of sporting competition and to recognise the dedication, determination, and sportsmanship shown by all of our students.
We were delighted to welcome our Sports Day sponsor, Mrs Eileen Hall, accompanied by her son Aaron, to present the awards. We are incredibly grateful to Cavanagh Free Range Eggs for their continued support over many years. Their generosity enables us to provide the wonderful medals that our students proudly receive each year.
The assembly also gave us an opportunity to thank the many members of staff and student volunteers whose hard work behind the scenes helped make the week such a success. Events of this scale simply would not be possible without their commitment and enthusiasm.
Throughout the afternoon, we celebrated our top athletes in each age group and recognised a number of exceptional performances that stood out during the week.
The final and most eagerly anticipated moment was the presentation of the House Cup. After one of the closest and most exciting House competitions in recent memory, Caldwell House emerged victorious!
🏆 House Cup Results 2026
🥇 Caldwell – 756 points
🥈 Necarne – 721 points
🥉 Crom – 720 points
🥉 Tully – 720 points
With just a single point separating second and third place, the competition was fiercely contested right to the very end!
Congratulations to every student who took part and contributed points for their House. Your effort, teamwork, and school spirit made this a memorable week.
👏 Well done everyone – we already can’t wait for next year’s House competitions!

Year 11 Work Experience
A huge thank you to all the employers and organisations who provided such valuable and enjoyable work experience opportunities for our Year 11 pupils last week. Their support, guidance and encouragement helped make the placements a great success.
A total of 99 Year 11 pupils took part in work experience across a wide range of sectors and workplaces. Throughout the week, pupils had the opportunity to develop new skills, gain an insight into the world of work, build their confidence and explore potential future career pathways.
The feedback from both employers and pupils has been extremely positive, with many pupils demonstrating excellent commitment, enthusiasm and professionalism during their placements.
We are very grateful to all the businesses and organisations that welcomed our pupils and invested their time in helping them gain this valuable experience.
Below is a selection of photographs showcasing some of the experiences and opportunities enjoyed by our pupils throughout the week.

Our Year 9 History students enjoyed an educational trip to Londonderry, where they explored important aspects of the city's past. During the visit, students toured the The Siege Museum, learning about the history of the Siege of Derry and its significance in Irish history. They also walked along the historic Derry City Walls, gaining a firsthand understanding of the city's unique heritage and defensive structures. The trip provided an engaging opportunity to bring classroom learning to life and deepen students' knowledge of local history.

🏆 Sports Day Finals – Tomorrow! 🏆
The grand finale of our Sports Day week takes place tomorrow!
All pupils competing in the finals should come to school wearing their PE kit and, if possible, bring studded football boots.
Students who will be spectating are encouraged to bring a waterproof jacket, as there is a chance of a shower during the event. We want everyone to stay comfortable and enjoy the day, whatever the weather.
The House Cup has been polished and is ready to be presented to this year’s champions. With the scores incredibly close, tomorrow’s events will be decisive in determining which House will claim the title and lift the trophy.
We wish all of our competitors the very best of luck. Give it your all, enjoy the day, and may the best House win! 🏅
