A great evening for our girls through our EngageHer Programme, giving them plenty to think about and work on as they continue their swimming journey.
We were delighted to welcome Brenda Bannon, Athlete and Team Performance Specialist, who spoke to the girls about the importance of fuelling themselves properly for swimming and performance.
We also welcomed Dr Carla McCabe, Senior Lecturer in Sport & Exercise Biomechanics at the Ulster University School of Sport & Exercise Science. As a former Lakelanders swimmer, Carla understands only too well the commitment and challenges involved in travelling to Omagh to stay engaged in the sport. Her inspiring talk, “Just Keep Swimming”, encouraged the girls to persevere, stay focused, and enjoy the journey.
A huge thank you to Jenny for organising the evening and providing the lovely food, to Linda for the cheese and crackers, and to Diane for the fruit platter.
Safe to say everyone had a fantastic evening, and our girls left feeling motivated, inspired, and ready to put what they learned into practice.

Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club held their Spring Junior Gala on Sunday 26th April, an event aimed at younger swimmers. As the Lakelanders approach the first year complete at their temporary base at Omagh Leisure Centre and there was much excitement among the swimmers from the outset with 41 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders taking part. They were joined by competitors from eleven other Ulster swimming clubs. For many of the 8-14 year-old competitors, this would be one their first experiences of individual competition, that all important first step for every sportsperson.
