✨ Book Launch: Cures from the Hollow ✨
Join us as Sarah McKenna Dunne launches her powerful new book exploring the people of Cavan and surrounding counties who hold β€œthe cure” β€” an ancient tradition still alive in modern Ireland.
For two years, Sarah travelled the region meeting healers, collecting stories, and asking:
πŸ”Έ Who are the people with cures?
πŸ”Έ How did they get them?
πŸ”Έ Why do they continue the practice?
πŸ”Έ Can these traditions be passed on?
Featuring artwork by Margaret McKenna and photography by Lorraine Teevan, this book offers a rare insight into a disappearing tradition.

Today I'm drawing out Lough Erne on a piece of Irish linen from McNutt of Donegal & testing out paints. I have to scale it up without the help of technology so I'm marking squares on the cloth.

It's appropriately old school as the project is depicting early Christian sites around the lough which served as a route for travel by boat for pilgrims.
Lough Erne Pilgrim Way has a fantastic interactive map of the route.

The talented women in Derrygannon Community Hall are creating fabric collages of some of the sites which will be stitched to the linen backdrop and hung in the Hall which already has many beautiful textile wall hanging. It's a place I've never been before and I've had quite a few adventures finding it. Each time I go I feel like I take a different route along forestry roads, up hill & down dale, through mist & patchy GPS, but it's always worth it for the welcoming turf fire and the company.
