The pre-school children wrote the letters of their names and placed them in the correct order to create space rockets 🚀 They added stars and galaxies around their names with shiny sprinkles of confetti. We spoke about space and rockets landing on the moon. The children also mentioned gravity and how different space is to our planet. The children loved using their imaginations and had lots of fun taking part.
The babies love messy play so we decided to make moon sand today using cornflour, glitter and oil. The explorers explored the moon sand with their hands and some cutters of stars and the moon. The explorers sprinkled it in the air and watched as it fell down. This activity is great for sensory exploration.

🌟Orthodox Easter 🌟
Orthodox Easter Day, which takes place on the Sunday after the first full moon after Passover, is a sacred season and the most significant celebration of the Eastern Christian churches or orthodox churches. The date of Orthodox Easter Day is different from the Western Easter, which bases the celebration period on the Gregorian calendar. Meanwhile, the Eastern Orthodox Church still uses the earlier Julian calendar for calculating the dates of festivals, including Easter. 🐰
Orthodox Easter is celebrated by going to the church followed by delicious food with family. It is also very common to dye the eggs for this celebration. 🥚
For those who are celebrating today, we hope you have an amazing day with your loved ones. 💛

Learning in Preschool 🤸
Preschool provides your child with the opportunity to broaden and deepen their essential skills which will ready them for a life of learning and empower them to make positive contributions to the world around them. Preschoolers learn best through play, when using their whole body and engaging their senses. 👂🤔
3-year-olds are full of wonder and spend a lot of time watching, observing, and imitating. Their imagination is working at all times. They are particularly interested in perfecting their fine motor skills that they once found it challenging when they were two years old. A three-year-old loves to pour, mix, mash and squeeze. 🔍
At this age, children begin to hold writing equipment better thus our room is equipped with large pencils and crayons to help with mark making and drawing. The gross motor skill development of this age group learns to throw and catch a large ball, hopping, climbing and skipping that children love to practice and are incorporated into everyday activities. ✍️⚽
Learning about mathematics and language skills are integrated into our daily practice and introduced in context of play. Daily learning promotes social interactions, playing together to develop friendships and improve social skills which increases children’s ability to make special friendships and to have mutual respect towards each other in the environment. Practitioners are attuned to the emotional quality of interactions and help children identify emotions (their own and others) and learn problem-solving strategies. 💬🧮
We support the children in their journey towards school readiness to help them to make that exciting transition to ‘Big School’ as smooth as possible. 📚
🌟 Here in Monkey Puzzle Enfield, we focus on supporting the children in all of the skills they need to be independent and ready to learn when they join Reception. 🌟

World Autism Day🧩
World Autism Day was adopted to raise awareness about people living with autism spectrum disorder (A.S.D.) 🌟
Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental and neurological disorder that progresses throughout a person’s lifetime but develops in early childhood. It affects a person’s interaction and communication with others as well as how they learn. A.S.D. is a ‘spectrum’ because it may present itself in a wide range of symptoms, which vary from one individual to another
To all the beautiful diverse minds and personalities out there, we love and appreciate what you bring to the world! ❤️

Learning in Adventurers 🧸🧮
Between ages 2 to 3, toddlers make lots of progress within their development. They are physically more able, keen to explore and imitate the world around them. They develop their social skills as well as their language at this age. 🗪
We support children in the toddler room to develop their independence, self-help skills, communication, resilience, understanding and learning to regulate their emotions. We also encourage children to learn about showing care to their belongings, resources, nature, animals and each other. 🤗
Key person and practitioners learn a lot about what children are interested in by closely observing them to be able to plan exciting and stimulating activities based on the children’s own interests. Activities and experiences are tailored to children’s interests and needs in toddler room. We help support children’s growing sense of self and encourage confidence and self-esteem. 🥰
Children are able to freely access all resources without restrictions during such as accessing creative equipment for messy play, exploring in the sand and water areas, choosing a book or two for the cosy area, making their own playdough or simply exploring different areas of learning where they can freely access different resources.🔍
Children at this age are curious about the world around them, they tend to ask lots of questions and show curiosity, so there is never a dull moment in this room, everyday is full of surprises and lots of ‘why’ questions to answer! 💭🤔

Learning in Explorers (0-2’s) 🧸
At Monkey Puzzle Enfield, the key person plays a crucial part in child’s journey at nursery. By providing a warm, loving relationship the babies become secure and begin to explore their environments confidently to PLAY, LEARN & GROW! 🥰💕
Active play is vital in Early Years and much of the learning takes place from investigating surroundings with senses. Lots of the play children take part in daily includes water, sand and other malleable materials. 🧮 💭
We encourage early mark making through different activities where children get to use variety of materials to develop their motor skills. 🖍️🖌️✏️
Heuristic play is encouraged daily, which is play based on natural curiosity (heuristic means ‘to find out’). As babies grow, they move beyond just feeling and pondering things, to wanting to find out what can be done with them! 🔍
Of course, a baby room wouldn’t be quite right without an abundance of nursery rhymes, singing and reading! 📖 Whether in groups or during routines such as nappy changing, we embrace every opportunity to develop our rhythm and vocabulary through a good song.🎵

Happy Chinese New Year!🐇🧧
2023 is the year of the Rabbit 🐰
Lunar New Year is one of the most important celebrations of the year among East and Southeast Asian cultures, including Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean communities, among others.
Each culture celebrates the Lunar New Year differently with various foods and traditions that symbolize prosperity, abundance and togetherness. In preparation for the Lunar New Year, houses are thoroughly cleaned to rid them of inauspicious spirits, which might have collected during the old year. Cleaning is also meant to open space for good will and good luck. ✨
