We are a UK registered charity in Southbourne, West Sussex, dedicated to educating children about healthy eating habits, growing and sustainability.

Also available for private hire. https://linktr.ee/tuppennybarn Tuppenny Barn, a registered charity, is an organic smallholding in Southbourne, West Sussex. Our mission is to provide learning experiences for children and adults to promote organic growing, healthy cooking and eating, and sustainable horticultural practices. We have a year round programme of activities, including workshops, events,

yoga classes, music concerts and more. These are held outside or in our circular straw-bale built eco-centre. Tuppenny Barn is available for private hire and is also a venue for Wedding Receptions. We grow high quality organic produce, sold from our shop on Thursdays (open 9am - 4pm), and is also incorporated into our veg bag scheme.

Feeling green!

If you can call a courgette bodacious, then Costata Romanesco is the one! Beautiful striped skins, firm texture and nutty flavour.

Our own runner beans are also a delicious treat, especially when tossed in a light french dressing.

Nothing beats a sweet and juicy heritage pear, try our Beth and Merton Pride pears as a sweet treat, or alongside a fresh Sussex cheese.

Finally, the classic cucumber! Perfect paired with mint and cooling yoghurt or simply sprinkled with a good quality salt.

Pop in tomorrow between 9 and 3 to explore these green delights, and many more!

SUPPLIER OF THE MONTH

This month we're celebrating Cyril's Soap Shed ! We're delighted to have three new scents in store for you to try; Honey and Oats, Lemongrass and Chamomile, Tea Tree and Eucalyptus.

"The name itself is a nod to our roots. Cyril was Catherine’s grandad, a much loved local character with a shed at the bottom of his field where neighbours would gather to share stories and a mug of his famous homemade scrumpy. When we built our log cabin home, we chose that very same spot to keep his memory alive, and that is how Cyrils Soap Shed got its name.

Because we use fresh raw milk straight from our own herd rather than powdered milk or harsh synthetic bases, our soaps are naturally rich in vitamins and gentle fats. Using the traditional cold process method, we cure every batch slowly from scratch to lock in all that natural goodness.

It is deeply nourishing, wonderfully gentle on sensitive skin, and entirely free from unnecessary fuss, just honest wholesome skincare rooted in the countryside."

Celebrating what we grow

The jammers have been busy making restorative elderberry rob from the very early crop of elderberries which have been growing in our hedges.

The crops are also still growing well in our beds and orchards, some come and explore the very best Tuppenny has to offer in tomorrow's shop. Open 9-3.

Join us for our National Garden Scheme West Sussex open day on the 15th. Take a tour around the
site, enjoy one of our famous cream teas, and go home with some beautiful organically grown flowers and produce!

We're delighted to be hosting the Hampshire Artists Cooperative Exhibition between the 22nd and the 26th, so do pop in to enjoy some local art.

Our produce is popping!

We just love the height of summer! ☀️ Despite the weather, all this sunshine means our plot is brimming with home grown organic fruit and veg!

Pop in to our shop tomorrow between 9 and 4 and enjoy the best the season has to offer.

We've got our own beetroot, heritage tomatoes, courgettes (some complete with blossoms), french beans, boysenberries and SO MUCH MORE!

Summer is bringing new delights

We have a new piccalilli launching at this week's shop! A twist on our classic recipe, utilising the best of summer produce in our traditional sauce.

Our Veterans Bloom participants have bunched up some of our beautiful lavender for you to enjoy.

Our heritage orchard is coming into its own already! With gorgeous home grown plums now available.

We're looking forward to welcoming you tomorrow between 9 and 3!
