Bishop Laney Sixth Form

22/09/2026

What a brilliant first few weeks back! We hope that both new and returning sixth form students have settled in well. For seven of our dedicated students, term started with a adventure in the wilds of North Wales!

Before the start of term, while staff here were in school early for CPD training days, our DofE team took our Bishop Laney students up a mountain to take on their Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Gold Qualifying expedition!🥾⛰️

After one sunny day to settle in, the weather came at them 😬🌧️ but our leaders were confident that these amazing students, who had smashed their previous training expeditions, had those all important core life skills and the determination to make it a brilliant (if soggy) week, supporting one another as a team! Well done to all involved for working towards the Gold Standard!

Today has been a wonderful day of celebration at Bishop Laney Sixth Form as our students received their post-16 results. 🎉

We are incredibly proud of every student and of the hard work, determination and commitment that has brought them to this point. From outstanding A Level and BTEC results to exciting next steps, our students are now heading off to universities including Durham, Leicester and UEA, beginning degree-level apprenticeships locally, taking gap years to gain further experience, and embarking on many other exciting pathways.

These results represent so much more than grades — they are the beginning of the next chapter in each student’s journey. We wish all of our leavers every success as they take their talents, ambitions and experiences with them into the future.

A huge thank you also goes to our dedicated staff and families for the support they have given our students along the way. ❤️

And to our Year 13 leavers: 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵! Once a Bishop Laney student, always part of our community. We would love to hear about your adventures, achievements and journeys in the years ahead, and to follow all that you go on to accomplish as part of our alumni community.

Congratulations to you all — we couldn’t be prouder. 🌟

🤞Good luck and huge congratulations to everyone across the area receiving their A-Level, T-Level, BTEC, and technical results today!

Every single result represents months of hard work, grit, and determination. You should be immensely proud of everything you have achieved to reach this point! 👏🏻

A quick reminder for today:
- Exam results are just a single moment in a much bigger journey.
- They do not define your worth, your talent, or your potential.
- Success is rarely a straight line, and there are many paths to your goals.

Whether your next step is university, an apprenticeship, further training, or moving straight into employment, we wish you the absolute best of luck! 🍀

Parents and staff — don't forget to give yourselves a pat on the back today too for supporting our amazing young people along the way! ❤️
