🚨 CHILDREN ATTACKED WITH APPLES BY BOYS ON SCOOTERS AT BUTTERFLIES FOREST SCHOOL IN WILBURTON 🌳🦋

We’re really pleased to share that a couple of parents have been in touch to ask for the footage and have acknowledged that their children were involved in yesterday’s incident and have assured us that the matter is being dealt with at home.
We’re genuinely grateful to these parents for coming forward, taking responsibility and addressing what happened. It can’t have been an easy conversation to have, and we really appreciate their honesty.
We hope the boys have learned a valuable lesson from yesterday and that nothing like this happens again. For us, this is a really positive outcome, and we’re happy to draw a line under the incident and move forward. Sadly, yesterday afternoon (Saturday 10th October), during a children’s birthday party at Butterflies Forest School, we had a rather upsetting incident involving a group of young boys who repeatedly entered the neighbouring land and threw apples over our dead hedging, deliberately aiming at children enjoying the party.
Unfortunately, one little girl was hit on the head by an apple, causing an injury that required an ice pack, and understandably, several of the other children were frightened.
This wasn’t a one-off incident. The boys returned on at least three occasions between approximately 1:30pm and 3:30pm, each time throwing apples before running away.
We have video footage of the incidents and know the following:
🍎 There were approximately 3-4 boys, who appeared to be around 12–15 years old.
🍎 One was wearing a black hoodie and another a red hoodie.
🍎 They were riding scooters, one of which was yellow.
🍎 They left their scooters on the pavement on Haddenham Road, climbed over a gate, ran across the orchard on the neighbouring land and threw apples over the hedging into our Forest School.
We’re hoping someone in our local community might recognise this description or know who these boys are.
We have video footage which we will not be sharing publicly, but if you think your child may have been involved, please get in touch privately and we can help establish whether they were there.
❤️ We understand that kids will be kids! Young people sometimes make silly decisions without thinking through the consequences. But yesterday, a child was hurt, others were frightened, and what should have been a lovely birthday celebration was disrupted.
We’re not looking to publicly shame anyone. We’d much rather the boys understood why their actions were dangerous and had an opportunity to put things right.
In fact, we have plenty of jobs around the forest that could do with some extra hands! 🌳💪 If the boys would like to come forward, apologise and spend a little time helping us look after the woodland, we’d be more than happy to have a conversation with their parents about making that happen.
Butterflies Forest School is a place where children should feel happy, welcome and, above all, safe. We work incredibly hard to make that possible, and it’s heartbreaking when something like this happens.
Please share, particularly with families in Haddenham, Wilburton and the surrounding villages. We’d really appreciate your help in identifying those involved and hopefully turning something unpleasant into a positive learning experience.
