Tutor Role – Home-Based Education (Ely Area, Term-Time Only)
Start date: Immediate (subject to satisfactory references and enhanced DBS checks)
Ely Classrooms is seeking an experienced, thoughtful tutor to support an adult young person (in his 20s) through home-based education in the Ely area.
This is a term-time only role, for 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday (10am–4pm). The post will initially be offered on a one-term contract, with review, and has the potential to extend for up to 18 months.
The role involves working one-to-one with an adult young person who communicates using eye-gaze technology. He is supported at all times by two full-time carers, so this is an education-focused role only and does not involve any personal care.
Some driving may be required as part of the role. A clean driving licence is therefore essential.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience working one-to-one with young people or vulnerable adults
• Is calm, patient, reliable and consistent
• Is comfortable working in a family home
• Is open to learning and working collaboratively with a parent and Speech and Language professionals
• Has an interest in creative approaches to engagement, particularly art and music
Formal teaching qualifications are not required. SEND experience is preferred, but a genuine willingness to learn and engage with training is essential. Training and ongoing support will be provided.
This is an employed role with Ely Classrooms, offering a weekly salary and statutory employment benefits. An enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and the right to work in the UK are required.
