Hi there! I am Sarah Core Arts, pottery teaching studio in Elstree. The Home of Mindfulness Clay Tranquil, fully equipped studio in a beautiful country setting.

Sarah is a British Ceramic Artist who works with the physical, mindful and iterative process of making in clay. With over ten years experience in working with clay and as a meditation teacher, Sarah teaches creative ceramic classes with wellbeing at their heart. Relax into your creativity with easy to access mindfulness clay exercises, learn hand building clay methods, and wheel experience sessions for beginners, glazing and decorating in small friendly groups. Individual, informal tuition and excellent resources for inspiration.

Something new has been taking shape behind the scenes…

I’ve been busy testing and refining a brand new workshop at Sarah Core Arts, making sure every part of the process works beautifully before I bring it to you.

It’s something I get asked about all the time and something so many of you want to learn how to make, so I’m very excited about this one!

For now, I’m only sharing a few little glimpses because I don’t want to give too much away…

What could you create in six weeks?!

This beautiful hand built fish is slowly coming to life in the studio and will eventually become a stunning piece for the garden.

That’s the lovely thing about my 6-week hand building courses.

You have the time to develop an idea, learn different techniques and watch your piece evolve week by week. You don’t have to make the same thing as everyone else either, I encourage you to explore your own ideas and create something that feels completely yours.

My next 6-week hand building course starts on 28th October and runs through to December, making it the perfect way to spend the final few weeks of the year doing something creative, mindful and just for you. 🤍

If you cook, this one might make a lot of sense!

When rolling out a slab of clay, I use a piece of fabric underneath it, a little like using flour when rolling out pastry. It helps stop the clay from sticking as we apply pressure and begin forming our slab.

As you work, the fabric can begin to press into the clay, so we periodically lift, release and reposition it before continuing.

It’s techniques like these that we explore in my hand building workshops. You’ll learn how to properly prepare and work with your clay, while developing the skills to turn your own ideas into finished pieces.
