Professional piper hire for special events such as weddings, burns suppers, funerals, parties in fact any event at all. Thistle Piping comprising of Pipe Major Julie Brinklow & her team of pipers cater for corporate and private hire requirement for all things "bagpiping" whether it be a solo piper or a full Pipe Band. Julie's team are all of Grade 1 piping standard which is the highest possible gr

ade and is recognised globally. We specialise in weddings and have been VOWS award finalists in 2009, 2010 & 2012, winning the title in 2009. We are also repeat winners of the Top Tiers awards for the Grampian area. Please visit www.thistlepiping.com for more information and media samples. We also teach all levels of piping wether it be a beginner wanting to learn from scratch or a more advanced piper wishing to improve their technique or work on solo aspects of their piping skills. Lessons are provided in 1 hour sessions or longer by arrangement. All area's of piping are considered, fingerwork precision, reading music, blowing steady, pipe maintenance, choosing reeds, tuning & set up etc etc
so that our pupils have a well rounded level of expertise and can progress to become good pipers! We also offer group tuition for both youth & adult. Arrangments are entirely flexible to suit your needs. Lessons can be provided online or at a convenient time at the instructors location. There is currently a waiting list for our tuition services but please get in touch as we will still be able to offer start-up guidance and get back to you when there is a space. JBrinklow Founder

Really lovely to chat to Bill Hutcheon at today’s wedding. A retired police officer, Bill served Aberdeen City Police force from 1961-1992 and even joined the Pipe Band as a snare drummer in 1963-1965 where he shared some memories with me of his time in the band.
Aberdeen City Police Pipe Band is of course now known as grampianpolicescotlandpb and it was great to share with him our current news.
