Congratulations to OE Daisy, who left Ellesmere College at the end of Year 13 this summer to head Down Under and continue pursuing her passion for cricket.

A former member of our Cricket Academy, Daisy is already settling into life in Australia and making an impact on the pitch, taking wickets just a couple of matches in! 👏

Daisy has recently received her cap for The Sunshine Coast Scorchers, a Premier Grade cricket club based in Buderim, Queensland.

It’s fantastic to see our 2026 leavers taking exciting opportunities, following their passions and doing what they love. We’re incredibly proud to see Daisy making her mark on the other side of the world!

Well done, Daisy, we can’t wait to see what you achieve next! 🌟

Nathaniel started skiing at just 4 years old and began racing at 10. A former British Schools U14 Indoor Slalom Champion, he now competes internationally for Ireland on the FIS CHI circuit.

During the 2025/26 season, Nathaniel raced and trained across Europe, including Andorra, Sweden, Norway, Croatia, Slovakia and Italy, with four international starts for Ireland.

He continues to train across Europe and at The Snow Centre when he’s back in the UK, building his experience both on and off the slopes. ⛷️

On Wednesday, our Lower School students took part in House Debate, with students representing Phillips, Browlow and Heywood Houses incredibly well.

Debating gives our students the opportunity to think differently, consider a range of perspectives and explore opinions that they may or may not agree with. It encourages them to develop their critical thinking skills, build confidence and put forward their arguments with thought and conviction.

A huge well done to everyone who took part! It takes a great deal of bravery and courage to stand up and speak in front of your fellow students, and we are incredibly proud of everyone who participated. 👏

Well done to Browlow for winning and earning points for your house.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

In Wednesday’s Big School Assembly, pupils were challenged to think about the true nature of courage. We often associate courage with acts of bravery, particularly those that are dramatic, heroic or highly visible. Yet the word itself comes from the French cœur, meaning ‘heart’. At its root, courage means acting from the heart. This is a powerful idea. Historically, the ‘heart’ was seen as the centre of character, conviction and moral strength.

While a last-ditch tackle on the rugby pitch may appear courageous, moral courage is among the most important qualities we can develop. Moral courage is the strength to do what is right, even when it is difficult, unpopular, or carries personal risk. It is what enables us to stand up for our values, support others when they need us, and act with integrity when remaining silent would be easier.

Pupils were reminded that courage is like a muscle of the heart: the more we exercise it, the stronger it grows. True courage is listening to your heart and acting on it, even when it is difficult.

With best wishes

Over the past two weeks , Cadets from our Naval CCF contingency have been visiting Whitemere

With the water right on our College doorstep, the Cadets look forward to these opportunities, their enthusiasm week on week has been remarkable.

From learning how to prepare a dingy to be ‘fit for water’ to ‘dry capsizing’ the cadets gain knowledge and experience through both classroom and water based tasks.

The weekly sessions at Whitemere with assistance of the valued volunteers, allow the cadets to experience a variety of challenges such as following a set sailing course, knot preparation and even learning to sail in a ‘no wind ‘ situation.
