Our Ofsted description:

Ellesmere Port Catholic High School is a larger-than-average voluntary-aided
secondary school. It has a slightly higher proportion of girls than most schools, while the proportions of students known to be eligible for free school meals and from minority ethnic groups are below average. The proportion of students who speak English as an additional language is about average

. The proportions of students with special educational needs and/or disabilities, including those with a statement of special educational needs, are much lower than in most schools. Relatively low numbers of students join or leave the school other than at the normal entry and leaving points. The school has specialist status in the humanities, with English, history and religious education as the specialist subjects. The school is a member of the Prince’s Teaching Institute for Geography and the London 2012 ‘Get Set’ network.

🙏 Nine of our students and three members of staff recently travelled to Lourdes as part of the Shrewsbury Diocesan Pilgrimage. ✨ 🚌 Joining pilgrims from across the region, the group undertook the 28-hour coach journey to Lourdes and took part in a range of spiritual activities throughout the pilgrimage.

⛪ Our students participated fully in the Masses and processions, 🤝 made many new friendships, and represented the school with great enthusiasm, respect, and maturity.

It was a memorable, enriching, and faith-filled experience for everyone involved, creating lasting memories and friendships that will be treasured for years to come. ✝️✨

🌟 Welcoming Our New Year 7 Students to EPCHS in Summer School🌟

In July, we were delighted to welcome our new Year 7 students to Ellesmere Port Catholic High School for a fantastic Summer School experience. Throughout the week, students took part in a variety of activities designed to build confidence, resilience, teamwork and friendships, while helping them feel excited about starting their journey at EPCHS.

🚢 Royal Navy Youth Engagement Team
Students enjoyed a range of engaging challenges that developed teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills in a fun and supportive environment.

💚 Transition & Wellbeing
The NHS Mental Health Support Team led activities focused on transition, wellbeing and friendship-building, helping students feel welcomed and supported.
🏏 Sport & Teamwork
From cricket to badminton, students worked together, stayed active and discovered new talents while forming new friendships.

🎨 Creativity & Imagination
Arts and crafts sessions encouraged creativity, self-expression and collaboration, giving students the chance to relax and enjoy time with their peers.

🍦 Fun & Celebration
The week also included an afternoon of bouncy castles, ice cream and plenty of laughter, creating memories to last well beyond the summer.

Most importantly, Summer School was about helping students build connections, grow in confidence and feel part of the EPCHS family. We are incredibly proud of how enthusiastically they embraced every opportunity and look forward to seeing them continue their journey with us.

Today we were delighted to welcome our new Year 7 and Year 12 students as they began an exciting new chapter at EPCHS. 📚✨

🕘 Year 7: 8.45am — please use the side gate
🕙 Years 8 & 9: 10.00am
🕚 Years 10 to 13: 11.15am

📍 Year 7: Please enter via the side gate.
📍 All other year groups: Please use your usual entrance.

Students will be welcomed and directed by members of staff when they arrive.

Celebrating Success!🎉

We’re delighted to celebrate the fantastic GCSE and vocational results achieved by students here at Ellesmere Port Catholic High School! 👏

With a 93% overall pass rate, half of all grades at Grade 4 or above and a third at Grade 5 or above, we’re incredibly proud of what our students have achieved. 🌟 We’re celebrating a number of Grade 9s, with many of our students achieving Grade 5 or higher across all their subjects.

Alongside their GCSE success, our students also performed strongly in vocational Level 2 qualifications, securing places at post-16 colleges and training providers, and opening doors to exciting future pathways.

These results are a fantastic reflection of the hard work, determination and commitment of our students, supported by their families and our dedicated staff.

A huge well done to every student — we’re incredibly proud of you! 🎓👏

We wish all our students the very best for the future and look forward to seeing all they go on to achieve.

We are so proud of all of our students today! 🎓👏

Lorraine Henderson, Acting Headteacher, said:

“We are incredibly proud of the achievements of every one of our students. Their success is the result of years of hard work, determination and commitment, supported by the dedication of our staff and the encouragement of their families.
It is wonderful to see so many students progressing to their chosen destinations, whether that is university, an apprenticeship, the Armed Forces, travel or the world of work. We have every confidence that they will continue to achieve great things, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they make in the future. We also look forward to welcoming them back to inspire future generations at EPCHS.”

Students will now embark on university courses in subjects including Medicine, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, History, Politics, Law, English Literature, Adult Nursing, Acting and Drama, and Veterinary Science. Others will begin exciting careers through apprenticeships and military service.

We congratulate all of our students on their fantastic achievements and wish them every success as they take the next step in their education, training and careers. We can’t wait to see what they achieve next! 🌟
