GCSE and BTEC Success at Park Lane Academy
We are celebrating another positive year of GCSE results, continuing the momentum built during last year’s record outcomes.
This year, our Year 10 and 11 pupils achieved full marks in key components of BTEC Health & Social Care, BTEC Sport and BTEC Travel & Tourism. Alongside this, our SEND students again performed above national averages, and English remains one of our strongest subjects, with grades 9–4 in line with national figures.
Demand for places remains high, with limited availability for the new Year 7 intake — a clear sign of growing confidence in the direction we are heading.
Last summer’s results placed us as the most improved mainstream secondary school in Yorkshire and the Humber for Attainment 8, and 12th most improved nationally out of more than 3,450 schools.
Our Principal, Stuart Hillary, said: “Park Lane continues to go from strength to strength. Last year was a record year for the academy, and we have continued to build on that success. It’s inspiring to see where our pupils go next — including Oxford and other leading universities — and we want every young person here to know those opportunities are open to them.”
We have also seen encouraging developments beyond academic results. Attendance was above average for a second year, exclusions have halved for the third year running, and Ofsted noted calm, settled classrooms and respectful relationships between pupils and staff.
Mr Hillary added: “GCSE results open doors. Some pupils will choose sixth form or college; others will take up apprenticeships. Our role is to ensure every young person leaves Park Lane with the results and confidence they need to follow the path that’s right for them — and to aim high.”
As we look ahead to September, we’re excited to welcome everyone back and continue supporting pupils through Passport to Success — helping them build confidence, set clear goals, and make the most of every opportunity in the year ahead.
