It’s Induction Week, and we’re so excited to welcome our new students and see our returning students back in the salon! 💜

This week is all about settling in, meeting your lecturers and classmates, getting to know the department and getting ready for another exciting year of learning, creativity and developing your skills. ✨

Congratulations Katie Little, Hairdressing Student on being named UHI Moray Student of the Year 2026.

Your resilience, kindness and dedication to supporting fellow students, especially care-experienced young people, have rightly been recognised. Your journey is an inspiration and shows what can be achieved through courage, determination and compassion.

Wishing you all the very best for the future—you’ve earned this recognition and should be incredibly proud. Congratulations, Katie! 🌟🎉

As another academic year comes to an end, we’d like to wish all our students a wonderful and well-deserved summer break! ☀️

Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and enthusiasm throughout the year. We hope you enjoy the summer and take some time to relax and recharge.

We look forward to welcoming both new and returning students for the 2026/27 session, starting in August. ✂️💇‍♀️

In our salons we have now provided a refill station so that clients can purchase a bottle for there desired product, and rather than throwing the bottle away, they can bring it back in to be refilled at a lower cost. Which means saving money and also reducing landfill waste.

Each mirror within the salon has a sticker with a quote relating to sustainability and a qr code that brings you to this wonderful page full of information on how we are becoming sustainable. This has been done in the hope that anyone who comes across this page may be able to take something away from it and become more sustainable at home.

Recycling bins are a good option to have as it protects the environment by reducing landfill waste.

In our salon we currently have bins for

➕Paper & cardboard
➕Plastic & cans
➕General waste
➕Colouring tubes
➕Hair Cuttings

The hair that is cut from clients is swept up, put into the hair bin then collected and taken away to be recycled and reused in many different ways such as for your garden.

Our salons are now closed for the summer and will reopen in September.

Retail sales are still available until mid June from our HBCT reception.

We would like to wish all our clients a happy summer and thank you for supporting our students on their hairdressing journey.

Sustainability continues within our salons with the use of disposable, biodegradable towels.

These are a hygienic, eco-friendly and a very cost effective alternative to normal cotton towels. Significantly cutting laundry costs and ensuring each client has a fresh, clean towel.

Our level 5 hairdressing students have spent many months researching how to make our salon more sustainable in a cost effective manner, and then going on to purchase required equipment and implementing them within the salon.

This would not have been possible without the funding received from 'The Rebel Fund' which supports student lead projects across colleges in Scotland.
