Congratulations to our GCSE students on outstanding results!

Once again, this year’s GCSE results have surpassed previous years and as a non-academically selective school, we are particularly proud that 94% of grades achieved are Grade 4 and above, maintaining an impressive increase of 10% in grades 7 - 9 compared with 2023.

These excellent results reflect the determination and commitment of our students, supported every step of the way by the dedication of our teaching staff. Through personalised support, academic clinics, progress monitoring, enrichment opportunities and individual guidance, our teachers have helped every student fulfil their potential and achieve their goals.

Congratulations to Ray who is heading to the University of the Arts London. Ray was a valued member of our championship basketball team, a drummer in two Ronnie Berry Jazz and Rock concerts, and was also involved in the Special Olympics, a combined project for the school's Community and Sports Service, teaching sport to young people from local schools with special needs. He was also, of course, a proud member of Round Square!

Congratulations to Niamh who is heading to St Andrews to study Medicine having achieved the clean sweep required to gain that place. Niamh was Captain of the Gordonstoun dance company, EnHahnce, she was represented the school in both tennis and netball, went on exchange to Denmark, was a pool lifeguard and a member of the casts of A Comedy of Errors and Wendy and Peter. She is pictured her taking part in the Strathpuffer - a 24 hour endurance mountain biking race, and was also on the winning team for the Round Square Adventure Race. She will be much missed by her Windmill housemates - good luck at uni, Niamh.

Angus is taking a gap year after being awarded a scholarship with deep-tech company Cambridge Consultants. He is looking forward to applying the Maths and Science he has studied so far and is excited about joining a multidisciplinary team to work on innovative projects.

During a long career at Gordonstoun, Angus was Captain of the School Pipe Band, Outdoor Leadership Service, and school Squash Teams. He particularly valued the variety of experiences offered through the Pipe Band to play at an amazing range of events off campus.

Angus plans to study engineering after his gap year and would love to work within the motorsport industry in the future. Good luck Angus!

Because of the excellent grades Laura achieved in her exams, she has now received a scholarship to study Business Administration with Financial Economics at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC), in Barcelona. Laura was Windmill house captain, and is seen here with her Housemistress and Resident Tutor celebrating end of exams. She was also the Captain of Young Enterprise at school, a member of the squash team and of community service in which she achieved her Cycling Without Age Scotland copilot licence. She also won the 2026 Photography award! Good luck in this next adventure Laura!

Congratulations to Erns on achieving his place to study at St Andrews. Erns was one of Gordonstoun's key pipe drummers - and is pictured here performing in London when the Pipe Band marched in the Lady Mayor's parade last November. He was a member of the Outdoor Leadership Service and one of the team that comprised the international service project bringing water to remote villages in Thailand in 2025. He was also, of course, a proud member of Cu***ng House and we wish him the very best in the next stage in his adventure.

Congratulations to Phoebe who is heading to Durham to study General Engineering. Phoebe was a very active member of the Gordonstoun Adventure Club which which makes the most of the school’s easy access to the mountains, the sea and some excellent local climbing pitches; she did dinghy sailing out of nearby Hopeman harbour and was a member of the Outdoor Leadership Service which afforded her the opportunity to share all the skills she acquired with young people from local schools and organisations. And of course she was as a proud Windmillian! Good luck in Durham Phoebe!

Matilda was captain of the Fire Service which works to support Scottish Fire and Rescue on call outs - or shouts - across the area. She was a Colour Bearer, a proud member of Plewlands, a sailing instructor and captain of sailing at school. She ventured out into the Cairngorms on our winter skills expeditions, gained her competent crew qualification on board Ocean Spirit on a voyage to the Arctic and took part in the Strathpuffer 24 hour endurance mountain biking race. She has earned an Army scholarship to Sandhurst post graduation - but first there’s a double honours degree to undertake in Glasgow for which we wish her the very best of luck.
