West Lakes Academy in Egremont, Cumbria provides education to students from 11 to 18 years old.
West Lakes Academy is 'Changing Lives through Learning', providing the best possible educational opportunities for young people. The academy celebrated its best ever GCSE results in 2017 with 64 per cent achieving five GCSEs or more at A* to C grade including English and maths. Bella in Y7 has received her respect badge from Miss Beckwith today.
Bella consistently demonstrates the respect value by being polite and kind towards her peers and staff.
She is a kind student who has supported others in their time of need and we are so proud of her

VALUE OF THE WEEK - RESPECT
Miss Relph’s badge winner this week is Imogen from Year 13.

PARENT SURGERY
Calling all parents in the Thornhill area. We are hosting our first parent surgery at Thornhill Primary School on Thursday 7th December 3.15pm -5pm.

EGREMONT FOOD APPEAL
Our prefects and school council are working hard to support the Egremont Christmas appeal. The academy reception is a drop off point for donations.

West Lakes Academy is open as normal tomorrow. We have been informed that the SIMs school bus service from Wasdale to the academy will not be running and the service from Eskdale will start at the top of Irton Levels at 7.30am.
Online learning will be set for any students from Wasdale unable to make it in to the academy tomorrow.
Please take care, wear coats over your blazers to keep warm and travel safely.

MOVEMBER
To mark Movember, staff and Sixth Form students have grown moustaches to raise awareness for men’s health - specifically testicular cancer, prostate cancer, mental health and su***de prevention.
Many thanks to all staff and Sixth Form students who have taken part.
Our Band Night and Art Exhibition has started at Florence Arts Centre tonight. Our students are incredibly talented and are outstanding ambassadors for our academy.

HEAD OF YEAR 10 STARS
Miss Taylor has chosen two year 10 stars this week.
Albert never fails to wish Miss Taylor a “good day”every time he sees her around the academy. He is always so thoughtful of others.
Mrs Walsh also nominated Daniel for always being so polite and saying “hello” everytime he sees her or any other staff member.
Well done boys, we are very proud of you both!
