Enjoyable time at UKA Summer School with guest instructor Katsurada Shihan.

Great fun socialising off the mat, together with good training & learning on the mat - makes for a successful week.

Class cancellations: Thurs 13th & Sun 16th August 2026 as we’ll be attending our Summer School in Nottingham with guest instructor Katsurada Shihan of Hombu dojo.

Classes resume Thursday 20th August.

The dojo pet decided to come out and play today. We threw a saddle on its back and each took a turn to ride it around the hall.

Of course, this spider brought back memories of Royster and how he was in charge of catching a previous intruder. The little bu**er bit him on the hand though. If you look back at our Facebook history I’m sure you’ll find the pictures. How we all miss him so. But we’ll never forget him.

Class is cancelled today (21st June). Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. Enjoy your day of not being told ‘it’s your fault’. It only comes around once a year so make the most of it.

Congratulations to Sophie for passing her 6th kyu examination tonight. Sophie did really well and nailed the movements confidently. Well done Sophie.

Even though it was a warm night, they managed to get through to the end of class. We worked on our 10 basic foot movement for receiving an attack. The initial movement is so fundamental in improving confidence, explosiveness and absorption. Always have fundamentals in mind when training.

Nice to have Zining back on the mat with us. It would be great if one day we manage to get a photo of all of our members together!

It’s great to see how far the newbies have progressed. Really impressed with the standard of their ukemi. Well done!

Nice class tonight. Well done to everyone. So proud of our club members. Always room for more people though. If you fancy trying Aikido, this group is super friendly and will help you all they can. Come along to try on any of our classes.
