Baby Lab RHUL – Baby Lab RHUL Royal Holloway Baby Lab is a research facility in the Department of Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London in Egham, Surrey. We are a team of researchers studying various aspects of babies’ development, including self and social development, as well as language development.

Fact of the day 👶🧠: :
Before babies learn to talk, they communicate and tell us things in other ways, such as by looking and pointing. In 1963, a psychologist called Robert Fantz made an important discovery. He found that babies looked longer at complex patterns than simple ones, which suggested that the babies could differentiate between the patterns. Over 50 years on, psychologists still measure looking behaviours to understand what babies know.

In our studies at the Baby Lab, your baby might watch a video while we record their looking behaviours - like this little participant who is watching a video of different animals!

Our Baby Lab is located in the Department of Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London in Egham, Surrey, TW20 0EX.

We are looking for women with a baby between 6 to 18 months old to take part in our online research study!

See our flyer for more details. With your help, this research will advance our understanding of mother-infant relations, and the experience of the body during and after pregnancy. You must be a mother with a 6-18 month old baby to take part.

UPDATE! - Did you take part in our previous online study about body awareness and caregiving? If so, we are in the process of inviting you to the second part of this online study! Please keep an eye out on your emails. This online experiment will be similar to the one you completed last year and this time includes a short task. It takes approximately 15-20 minutes and we are pleased to let you know that we are able to pay you for your time.

Happy New Year from all of us at RHUL Baby Lab! 2020 was a challenging year, and no doubt 2021 will be too, but we are looking ahead and hoping to see a future where studies can resume in our lab when it is safe to reopen, with all measures in place.
