Since I said the research question is the heart of any piece of research, here are the three main problems I see with RQs:
1) Lacking clarity/specificity (e.g. "to see how x and y are linked")
2) Don't stem clearly from the relevant literature
3) Don't have any clear policy or practice implications

The most important part of any research project is the research question. If your research question is clear, everything else, including your introduction and your methods, stems relatively easily from that. Good RQs are something Research CheckUP advises a lot on!
