The 900th anniversary of The Royal High School Edinburgh is just around the corner and coincides with the 60th anniversary of the school being located at Barnton. In 2028 the school will be celebrating in many ways.

One way we will be celebrating is with “The Big Reunion” to be held June 2028, in both the School and School Clubhouse. Initially, we are looking for names of people who would like to get involved with organising and those who wish to attend.

We are hoping to host an exciting afternoon and evening where people can reconnect, have a trip down memory lane and celebrate!

We would really like to hold a “Showcase of Former Pupils” - perhaps performing solo, or in groups – a real Royal High Variety Performance! We will also create story boards for those who wish to share their journey from school to now. Whatever you have done, created a family, built your own business, performed on stage, it doesn’t matter - it’s your story to share with everyone!
So, we envisage stage performances, buffet, story boards and possibly dancing. Then over to the School Clubhouse for drinks and to say farewell or rekindle old friendships.

Firstly, we need your ideas, we need you to volunteer and to help get others on board. We need you to pass this information on to as many other former pupils/teachers as possible.

We have less than 3 years to get this Big Reunion of Former Pupils and teachers past and present involved.

Message for FPs:

This may be of interest to FPs whose fathers, uncles or grandfathers served in the 1st and 2nd Battalions of The Royal Scots in the Far East during the Second World War.

The key information is further down the page in the RS Club newsletter below, along with a link to a short film that has been produced to support the event. The newsletter is also a good advert for the RS Club.

Although there will be information boards, there will be no exhibits from the RS Museum in the Castle itself. The Ford brothers, both who attended RHS, feature in the displays. Rather, this is an opportunity for those whose family members and friends served in the Regiment to find out more about their service from researchers from the RS Museum, National Records Scotland, Scotland's People, Scottish Genealogy Society and Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The event culminates in the annual RS Act of Remembrance at the RS Burma memorial in the grounds of Lauriston Castle on the morning of 16 August.

If any members of the FP community would like to come along, we would be very pleased to see them. The event is free and is in the Edinburgh Central Library, not to be confused with the National Library

Remembrance 11/11/2024

The 2024 Remembrance Service was held on Friday 8th November, attended by the whole of Years S5 and S6, invited guests, and many teachers. The theme this year was remembering those Former Pupil Servicemen who have no known resting place.

The Royal High School (RHS) in Edinburgh, established in 1128, stands as a testament to centuries of educational excellence and a beacon of Scotland's rich academic heritage. As we approach our 900th anniversary, we are excited to introduce The Royal High School Foundation, a charity dedicated to creating connections and raising funds to ensure that The Royal High School continues to evolve and flourish in its mission to provide unparalleled educational opportunities for all.

As the Royal High School celebrates turning 900 in 2028, we want to connect with our community, showcase our heritage, and create new opportunities for our young people. You can help us by supporting our new Royal High School Foundation, getting involved or donating, and by telling us about your Royal High connection demonstrating Viva Schola Regia, We Always Belong Here.

We hope you will consider connecting with us so ensuring your legacy in The Royal High School lives on. Please see the attached prospectus on how to connect with us.
