What a fabulous walk this morning. New plants and creatures to connect with. Today's highlights were mugwort, bumble bees, good king henry, elderflower, maple and snowberry. It was good to see the bees enjoying the flowers on the snowberry as generally I don't like having so much of it in the park and it takes over spaces that would be better with brambles and othe plants that support more diversity. However, it is good to know it has its moments of usefulness too!

Airing Pain 153: Can nature and mindfulness help pain? - Pain Concern 05/06/2026

During May Pain Concern came to visit our Monday Nature and Health walk as part of making a podcast on nature and living with chronic pain. You can listen to it here. It touches on how researchers are looking at the relationship between pain relief and nature. It also looks at the role of mindfulness and how nature can be part of staying in the moment. finally it also gives you a flavour of our Monday walks for anyone who is curious. We meet at 10am every Monday at the adventure playpark in Craigmillar Castle Park. A huge thank you to Anna Canning Floramedica for coming to the park and giving us such a deep dive into the wonders of spring foraging! We hardly walked 5 meters! The hedgerow had so much to offer. Hopefully, Anna will be back for another session in the late summer.
