The Perfect Finale to an Extraordinary Journey… ❤️🎓
As our Year 6 pupils reach the end of their primary school journey, this final week has been everything we could have hoped for: filled with laughter, friendship, celebration and memories that will stay with us all for years to come.
On Monday afternoon, the children swapped classrooms for chefs' hats as they rolled up their sleeves to make their own delicious pizzas. There was plenty of creativity on display (along with rather a lot of cheese!), and it was the perfect opportunity to spend time together, chatting, laughing and enjoying one another's company. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our wonderful kitchen team. A heartfelt thank you to the amazing Mrs Appleton, so ably assisted by Mrs Taylor, whose hard work, kindness and generosity transformed an ordinary afternoon into something truly memorable.
We were then incredibly fortunate to welcome Bolton Mountain Rescue Team into school. Matthew, Ged and John generously gave up their time to share fascinating stories about the vital work they do, offering the children a wonderful insight into the dedication, teamwork and selflessness required to serve our local community. Their engaging first aid session equipped the children with practical skills that could one day make a real difference. We are enormously grateful for their time, enthusiasm and generosity.
Wednesday afternoon brought another highlight, with a walk to the park followed by a well-earned ice cream at Holdens. Sometimes it's the simplest moments that become the most treasured—friends playing together, sharing stories and enjoying one another's company before their paths begin to branch out in September. Our sincere thanks go to Holdens for their warm hospitality and for helping to make the afternoon so special.
Yesterday evening was our Year 6 Leavers' Party. As for what happened... well, what happens at the leavers' party stays at the leavers' party! Suffice to say, there was plenty of laughter, dancing and celebration, and a wonderful evening was had by all.
This afternoon, we come together one final time for our Leavers' Service—a chance to reflect on seven incredible years, celebrate everything these remarkable young people have achieved and wish them every success as they take their next steps towards secondary school. It promises to be a fitting and emotional conclusion to an unforgettable week.
As we look back on this final week—and indeed the children's entire time at Turton & Edgworth Primary School—we are reminded that school is about so much more than lessons and SATs. It is about friendships that last a lifetime, opportunities that broaden horizons, acts of kindness, shared laughter and the countless moments that shape young lives.
Year 6, you have made us laugh, made us proud and, on more than one occasion, left us speechless! Thank you for the enthusiasm, resilience, humour and kindness you have brought to our school. It has been the greatest privilege to watch you grow into the thoughtful, confident and compassionate young people you are today.
Good luck as you begin your next adventure. Wherever life takes you, a little piece of Turton & Edgworth Primary School will always go with you—and a little piece of you will always remain with us.
Once a Turton & Edgworth pupil, always part of the family. 💙
