Today, we are pleased to share a video of Gurseerat working on her maths using her tablet at the Centre. As you watch, you may notice how she thoughtfully pauses, self-corrects while filling in her answers ✨, and still maintains both focus and pace until her work is complete.

Gurseerat is often quite shy when beginning her work; however, once she starts, her determination and concentration truly shine 🌟. At this level, we have been working closely on developing her pace, and it is rewarding to see her growing confidence and independence.

Moments like these are especially meaningful in a child’s Kumon journey ❤️, as they provide a clear glimpse into how the brain develops through consistent practice 🧠. The ability to pause, listen to an internal response, think carefully, and correct mistakes is key to strengthening autodidacticism - an essential foundation for success within the Kumon programmes.

When a child masters this skill, they are not only better prepared for school but also for life beyond the classroom 🌱. By learning how to learn independently, they gain the confidence and resilience needed to approach challenges thoughtfully and overcome them on their own ✨📘

Today we wanted to share a story of one of our dedicated students - Lara - who recently completed our Japanese number board 🇯🇵 - a task she’s been eager to tackle for some time!

Her enthusiasm was clear ✨ She quickly wrapped up her classwork just so she could begin. Even though she is completely new to Japanese numerals, she approached the task with focus and determination 💪, eager to see it through.

Completing the Japanese number board has been one of Lara’s goals for a while now. It’s no easy task - the numbers are in Japanese, a completely new language! 🧠 Lara took her time, carefully pairing each magnet with its matching shape on the mat, quietly building her focus with each match 🧩

It’s truly inspiring to see how eager children are to take on new challenges 🌟, set goals for themselves 🎯, and experience the pride that comes with achieving them 🙌

We now offer the Kumon programmes digitally on tablets which makes studying more convenient over holidays.

This is Jasper! He is four years old and this was his first year fasting for Ramadan. In our last online session, he was ecstatic to tell me about his fasting and how he can hear the daily prayers from his local mosque. In fact, in the background of our video, you can even hear the prayers! It is absolutely amazing to be able to connect with so many children from various different backgrounds and cultures!!

One of our students, Suhasvin, was awarded a certificate at school for his amazing progress in English. Suhasvin moved to the UK 3 years ago from Sri Lanka and after studying with me for just over a year, he is already studying work above his school age.

Suhasvin’s mum has noticed how much he has improved too. She doesn’t have to remind him to do his Kumon and his homework because Suhasvin gets on with it himself after school.

Whenever he does get stuck, he leaves me voice messages explaining what is he unsure about. This open relationship I have with my students means that they can share their worries with me so that I can understand how they think and be the best instructor to them. Well done Suhasvin!
