📝 Over 100 children have told us about the Quest exam.

The Wirral 11+ changed this year. GL Assessment is out, Quest Assessments is in, and the first sitting for the non-Catholic grammars was on 15 September.

So there is very little real information out there yet about what it is actually like to sit.

We have now had feedback from more than 100 children who did. We are sharing what they told us at the Bromborough open morning on Sunday.

Come along if your child sits it next year. It is free, and there is nothing to book in advance.

🚪 Open morning in Bromborough this Sunday.

Come and have a look round, and ask us anything about the 11+.

We will talk you through how the course works, the free weekend boosters that come with it, and what we now know about the Quest exam.

Classes are small, six children maximum, and every child gets marked homework and weekly feedback.

If your child is in Year 3, 4 or 5 and you have been putting off working out what the 11+ actually involves, this is the easy way to start.

How much is 11+ tutoring on the Wirral? Year 3 is £20 a week, Year 4 and Year 5 are £25, one to one is £40.

Here is what that covers, in full. A one hour lesson with a maximum of 6 children and a qualified teacher, in a real classroom in Hoylake, Heswall or Bromborough. Marked homework every week, linked to the lesson you just had and the one coming next. Feedback to you at the door every week. All materials.

Then the free part, which is the bit nobody tells you about. A free Saturday 9am repeat lesson if you had to miss one. A free Sunday 11+ booster. A free Sunday Upton Hall booster. A free Saturday creative writing class for St Anselm's.

Most 11+ providers sell those separately. We have seen booster courses advertised at £299 for an Easter block and £599 for a summer one. Ours run every weekend and they are in the weekly price.

That is not us being generous. It is that a child who missed Tuesday should not lose the whole week, and a child who fancies another go at non-verbal reasoning on a Sunday should be able to have one without the adult at home getting an invoice for it.

No joining fee. Nothing else to pay. Two weeks notice to stop.

Right now the first 4 lessons are half price at three centres only: Hoylake (56 Market Street), Heswall (74-76 Telegraph Road) and Bromborough (3-5 The Rake). Message 07961 950494 and tell us which one is nearest you.

If your child knows the word imitation, they already know this one. 🧙

Word families are the shortcut. Imitate, imitation, imitator. Learn one, get three.
Try it out loud tonight: pick a word they know and see how many relatives they can find.

11+ tutoring in Hoylake, Heswall and Bromborough: your first 4 lessons are half price.

The Wirral 11+ has changed exam provider. From September 2026, Calday, West Kirby Grammar, Wirral Grammar for Boys and Wirral Grammar for Girls use Quest Assessments instead of GL Assessment. If nobody has explained that to you yet, you are not behind. Most parents have not been told properly.

We looked into Quest in April. Phoned them, read everything they publish, then changed almost nothing, because our lessons already covered it. 😎

(We asked Bwiian to research it too. He came back with a 1990s hip hop album. One job, Bwiian.)

Where we are:
📍 Hoylake, 56 Market Street, CH47 3BQ
📍 Heswall, 74-76 Telegraph Road, CH60 0AQ
📍 Bromborough, 3-5 The Rake, CH62 7AD

Year 3 is £20 a week. Year 4 and Year 5 are £25 a week. One to one is £40. That covers a one hour lesson with a maximum of 6 children, marked homework every week, weekly feedback, and the free Saturday and Sunday booster classes. We tutor Years 3 to 6 for the Wirral 11+, Upton Hall and St Anselm's entrance exams.

The offer runs at these three centres only. Your first 4 lessons are half price: £50 instead of £100 for Year 4 and Year 5, £40 instead of £80 for Year 3. After that it is the normal weekly price, the same as everyone else pays. No joining fee, and nothing else to pay.

Message us on WhatsApp on 07961 950494 and tell us which centre.

"Is Year 3 too early to think about the 11+?"

Honest answer: no, but early looks completely different to what you're probably picturing.

At Year 3 there are no exam drills. It's confidence, curiosity and getting comfortable with being stuck for a minute without panicking. We build the foundation now so that when the Quest 11+ arrives, it's just the next step rather than a cliff edge.

By the time they're in Year 5 and sitting mocks, the technique is the easy part, because the confidence was built two years earlier.

Whether you're hoping for Wirral Grammar, Calday, West Kirby, Upton Hall or St Anselm's, the same thing holds: children who enjoy the work do better at it.

Wondering whether it's the right moment for your child? Ask us. The first lesson is free, so you can see it rather than guess.

Careful with this one. Option A is a trap. 🧙

When a question asks for the opposite, children reading at speed often grab the word that means the same thing. Remove is a synonym for extract, not an opposite.
Slowing down to read the question properly is a real skill, and it’s teachable.
Comment your letter below.

If your child keeps losing marks on questions they actually understood, send us a message.
That’s fixable.
