Our A Level PE pupils were delighted to welcome Matt from 4front Physiotherapy for an engaging talk exploring pathways into physiotherapy and the realities of growing and developing a successful business. Pupils asked thoughtful questions throughout and gained a deeper understanding of the opportunities within the profession. Thank you to Matt for sharing his expertise and valuable advice. Pupils are already looking forward to his next presentation.

Our brilliant Catering team recently donated surplus food to Eastbourne Foodbank, supporting local people while helping to reduce food waste. A small act of kindness that can make a big difference.

Today, we’re celebrating our Year 11 pupils and an excellent set of GCSE results.

More than a third of all grades were awarded at 8 or 9, while the proportion of grade 9s
increased to 19 per cent of all grades awarded. This marks our strongest performance at the
highest possible GCSE grade since the 9–1 grading system was introduced, excluding the
Covid-affected years.

There was strength across our broad curriculum too. 80 per cent of grades in art and textiles
were awarded at 9–7, more than half of all grades across biology, chemistry and physics were at
8 or 9 and 72 per cent reached this level in further mathematics. Pupils also achieved strongly
in specialist subjects including German and Classical Greek, reflecting the choice and
opportunity that remain central to our curriculum.

Behind the results are many individual successes. Two pupils secured ten grade 9s from 11
GCSEs, five achieved a clean sweep of grades 8 and 9, while 21 secured grades 7 or above
across every subject.

And now attention turns to what comes next. The majority of our Year 11 pupils will continue
into Eastbourne College Sixth Form this September, joining new pupils to form a cohort 23 per
cent larger than last year, reflecting growing demand for the breadth of our Sixth Form offer.
Congratulations to all our pupils on their achievements and to the teachers and families who
have supported them along the way.

Well done to our Year 9 pupils who came together to perform in their end of term concert. A wonderful showcase of the musical talent emerging across the College. We look forward to following their musical journeys in the years ahead.

At the start of the summer holidays, 20 Year 12 pupils headed to Wales for their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award practice expedition. Over three challenging days and two nights, all three teams navigated the Black Mountains under the guidance of experienced mountain leaders. Despite the challenges, every team successfully completed the expedition and gained invaluable experience ahead of the next stage of their DofE journey.
The focus now turns to October, when they will return to Wales for their Qualifying Expedition in the Brecon Beacons. We wish all our pupils the very best of luck as they prepare for this final challenge.

Last week, we celebrated the stories and successes behind our pupils’ A-level achievements. With 85 per cent securing their chosen university and one in five achieving straight A* and A grades, there is plenty to be happy about.

Today, we're sharing some of the university destinations and courses they have chosen.

Choice is an important part of life at the College. With 30 A-level subjects and support from our dedicated Futures team, pupils can pursue their individual interests and prepare for what comes next.

Congratulations to all our leavers. We’re behind you every step of the way.

Today, we are celebrating the stories behind our A-level results, as this year’s cohort of 117 leavers progress to an impressive range of destinations, from universities across the UK and US to apprenticeships and beyond.

With 85 per cent securing their chosen university, this year’s pathways include Oxbridge and medicine, as well as STEM and the creative arts.

There’s plenty to celebrate in the results too. Grade A was the most frequently awarded grade, with one in five leavers achieving straight A* and A grades. Standout performances included 86 per cent A* to A across art, photography and textiles, 69 per cent A* to A in further mathematics, 67 per cent A* to A in physics and 73 per cent A* to A across languages, reflecting strength right across our curriculum.

Behind the results are individual stories reflecting different ambitions and the broad choice of subjects and opportunities at Eastbourne College, showing there is no single route to success.

We’ve shared a small selection of our leavers and their stories, so you can discover more about their achievements and where they’re heading next, with more stories to follow. Read more: https://tinyurl.com/A-level-Success

Congratulations to all our leavers. We can’t wait to see what comes next.
