A stat that still gets me

22-year-old me had no idea that taking a multi-drop driving job to stay in the business during a house move would end up being the start of my entire career.

I went from van driver to Driver CPC trainer to running my own training company delivering courses across the country, and I still remember exactly what it feels like sitting in that seat wondering if the training is actually worth the time!

That's why during every CPC course I deliver, I tell a little of my story. Because I want the drivers to understand that I know how they feel, I'm not just in front of you showing you a powerpoint presentation.

Plus it's always a bonus to see their faces when I tell them I held a HGV licence! 😄

It's surprising how many people think that this is a magic trick, it's not I promise you.

BUT - it does open up their airways. It does increase their risk of surviving.

The recovery position is for someone who's unresponsive but breathing normally. It's job isn't to fix what's wrong. It's to help keep them alive until help arrives.

Here's why. When someone is unconscious on their back, their muscles relax, including their tongue, which can drop back and block their airway. And if they're sick or have blood in their mouth, they can't cough or swallow it away. Rolling them onto their side keeps the airway open and lets anything in their mouth drain OUT, instead of down into their lungs.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this?

As a trainer who offers both, and from when I held my HGV licence - I personally think there are benefits to both!

They BOTH count towards your 35 hours in EXACTLY the same way.
Both are delivered by a trianer, you don't do either alone.
Neither is a shortcut.

I just think it depends on how you learn best.

If you're confident learning predominantly from a screen, you don't want the fuss of travelling then online may be for you. It is slightly cheaper at £40.

However if you get more from being in a room of people and less screen time, then in-person would be better. That's £68.75 per person.

Either way, both versions have real conversations, real scenarios, real discussions that you can participate in.

One question many drivers ask when enquiring/booking Driver CPC...is there a test??

NO!

There is no test for Driver CPC - there used to be but not anymore.

This is one thing that often makes people relax when attending, so if it's been on your mind, don't worry!
