📊NATIONAL CENSUS DAY 🍎

Don't forget tomorrow is National Census Day!
This is an important day in the school calendar as it has a huge impact on the funding given to schools by the Government. The more children who eat a school meal on this day, the more funding the school will receive.

As a reminder all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free 2-course hot school meal everyday.

To encourage as many as we can to enjoy a school lunch on Thursday we are offering fish & chips as the main option. Fridays main meal option will be lasagne instead.

Exciting holiday activities available this October half term.

A programme of free holiday activities for children and young people across East Sussex is available this October half term.

Funded through the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF), the programme provides eligible children and young people with a food offer and develops their resilience. It gives them a chance to try new activities, make friends and gives parents and carers the confidence that the children they care for can have cost-effective engagement during the school holidays. Families can explore a wide range of activities through the EEQU booking platform, and bookings will open on
21st September at 8.30am. Information has already been sent directly to eligible families.

Who can take part?

The programme is available to children and young people who meet one or more of the following criteria:

- Receive benefits-related free school meals (including both the new "targeted" and "expanded" categories)
- Have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Are a young carer
- Are on a Child Protection Plan
- Are a Child in Need (CiN)
- Are a child we care for
- Have been referred to CAMHS
- Have low school attendance
- Are a Ukrainian guest living in East Sussex

🌟EXECUTIVE HEAD TEACHER COMMENDATION🌟

One of the most inspiring qualities we can witness in a young person is the determination to overcome challenges and continually strive to improve. This award recognises a student who has done exactly that.

Joining a new school midway through an academic year is never easy. It takes courage, PERSEVERANCE and ambition to adapt to a new environment whilst also tackling the challenge of catching up with learning. This student has done so with remarkable maturity and ambition.

They have consistently responded positively to feedback, reflected thoughtfully on their learning, and approached every task with integrity and a commitment to doing their very best. Alongside their academic progress, they have also shown genuine empathy towards their peers, willingly seeking support when needed and offering support to others in return.

Their journey this year has been one of perseverance, growth and success, and they embody our ASPIRE values in all that they do.

✨ DARE TO DREAM ✨

The Dare to Dream Foundation creates brighter futures for young people by offering alternative therapeutic education support.

Today they teamed up with GM Monk electricians to talk to our Year 9 students about possible career avenues.
Our students were engaged and focused during the presentation and asked fantastic questions.

We are looking forward to having The Dare to Dream Foundation back later in the term for more one on one mentoring.

📚Year 11 Learning to Learn Day 📚

Our Year 11 students began their first day back with an address from our local Member of Parliment, Josh Babarinde. Josh spoke about the importance of perseverance, one of our ASPIRE values and an attribute that students will certainly need as the year progresses.
