Did you know - the RNLI operates four types of all-weather lifeboats! 🌊
These boats are capable of high speed and can be operated safely in all weather conditions. Big and bright, the sight of one of our all-weather lifeboats on the horizon has given hope to many.
At Newhaven, we operate a Severn class all-weather lifeboat, which is capable of a top speed of 25 knots and a range of 250 nautical miles. Other all-weather lifeboats include the Trent, Tamar and Shannon's ⚓.

Day 79/365
Do the right thing

On 19th December 1981 the RNLI lifeboat Solomon Browne launched to the aid of a cargo vessel Union Star suffering engine failure in heavy seas and strong onshore winds. After the lifeboat had rescued four casualties, sadly, the lifeboat was lost with all those on board.
Today, we still remember those dedicated volunteers risking their own lives to save others and also those tragically lost on this night.
Thinking of our colleagues at Penlee Lifeboat.

It is not possible to say how much alcohol you can drink and stay below the limit. The way alcohol affects you depends on a variety of factors, such as age, weight, metabolism and even stress levels.
