An observational drawing activity, offering a wonderful opportunity for the children to express their creativity, embrace their love of art, and practise attentive listening. This activity has been thoughtfully prepared to inspire and encourage each child to explore. It is truly rewarding to watch the children immerse themselves in the creative process and take pride in producing their own unique pieces of artwork. Their enthusiasm and imagination never cease to amaze us, and we always look forward to seeing what they create.

At Wren House Nursery, we take pride in fostering a strong partnership between parents, carers, and our nursery. Our termly newsletters and weekly emails keep everyone informed about nursery events, curriculum highlights, key dates, and much more.
This week, our Kingfishers group (children aged 3-4) have been exploring the phonics sound 'I' as part of the SATPIN programme.
Congratulations to our Kingfisher who created an impressive igloo at home using sugar cubes, complete with penguins enjoying themselves inside and lights as well. This wonderful creation was shared during Thursday’s ‘Show and Tell’. Well done!

Our key rules provide an excellent foundation for guiding children to be kind, respectful, and brave. Building on these values, we supported Mental Health Week at Wren House Nursery with a variety of enjoyable and meaningful activities.
On Tuesday, our older children also explored hidden disabilities and participated in a purple day, marking the condition fibromyalgia.
Throughout the week, Wren House Nursery was filled with fun, learning, and opportunities to thrive.
Activities included interactive Colour Monster storytelling, using coloured monsters to help children identify and name their feelings; making emotion stress balls; enjoying a spa morning with foot spas and nail painting; and celebrating with a Pyjama Day, where children could bring their own teddy.
What a busy fun week.

Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday on the 8th May 2026 marked a truly remarkable milestone in British broadcasting and in the celebration of curiosity about the natural world.
We truly recognise this extraordinary centenary and Sir David’s inspiring dedication and unflagging interest in the environment.
His legacy motivates us all, especially in fostering kindness and curiosity within our nursery. We encourage everyone to be compassionate towards each other and to care for all living creatures, including the mini beasts found in our garden.
We encourage curiosity and kindness in our daily lives. Sir David is inspirational.

We really enjoyed celebrating National Superhero Day at Wren House Nursery on 28 April. The children had the opportunity to recognise both the fictional heroes from comic books and films, as well as real-life heroes who inspire us with their courage and kindness. Our discussions centred around the importance of bravery and caring for others. Thank you, Rachel, for creating a fantastic scene for the children to explore.

The children are thoroughly enjoyed exploring the new garden equipment. We make daily outdoor play a priority, as fresh air and physical challenges are vital for development. Engaging in risky play, building bravery, and practicing turn-taking are all essential components of helping our children grow and thrive.

British Science Week took place from 6–15 March 2026. At Wren House Nursery School, the children celebrated enthusiastically by participating in a series of science experiments. Before each activity, we discussed predictions, thinking about what might happen, then eagerly helped set up the experiments and watched the results unfold with awe and fascination. One particular highlight was watching a volcano erupt in the garden, created with a bottle of coke and mint sweets—a moment that everyone enjoyed.

A really lovely outing, a treasure hunt in Motcombe Park. This was such a brilliant way to spark children’s curiosity and help them to slow down, notice details, and engage with the world around them. An activity like this turns an ordinary walk into a mini‑adventure.
