🌾 Our Harvest Service 🌾

We had a wonderful time at our Harvest Service this morning! 💛 Each class contributed with a story, poem, song or prayer, all celebrating the joy of harvest and the importance of giving thanks.

There were some all-time favourites too, including Cauliflowers Fluffy from our fantastic choir! 🎶

A huge thank you to St John’s Church and our families for their generosity and support. It was a special time together, celebrating our harvest and shining our LIGHT values of Love, Independence, Generosity, Honesty and Teamwork. ✨

🌟 This is truly beautiful and we are so proud of the pupils. Huge thanks to St John’s church
staff who lead the weekly Bible club here at school! 🌟

Every Tuesday afternoon, we run a Bible Club at St John’s Meads Primary School. This term, we’ve been exploring the Psalms - discovering what they are and how they can express all sorts of emotions: happiness, sadness, frustration, anger, joy and everything in between.
This week, the children were split into four groups. Each group picked six words at random and then had the challenge of using those words to write their very own Psalm.
What they came up with was beautiful! It was wonderful to see how creatively they expressed their thoughts and feelings through their words.
The Psalms remind us that we can bring all our emotions to God - the good, the difficult and everything in between.

What words would be in your Psalm?
Why not share your own Psalm, or even just a few words, in the comments below. We’d love to hear them!

🌟 WHO’S WHO WEDNESDAY 🌟

This week, we’re introducing you to Mrs Hitch, one of our class teachers and Special Educational Needs Coordinator! 👋

Mrs Hitch has worked in education for over 25 years, including nine years in Early Years. She is passionate about supporting children and making sure every child gets the help they need to thrive.

Having previously been part of the St John’s community as a parent, she is delighted to be back at SJM in her new role, supporting our children, families and staff.

Outside school, Mrs Hitch is mum to Leila and Joel, has two cats, Rosie and Patch, and loves walking, family adventures and exploring new places.

🐢 Fun fact: Mrs Hitch’s favourite nursery rhyme is “I Had a Little Turtle” — so keep your ears open… you might hear her singing it around school! 🎶

⚽ Football Tournament Success! ⚽

We were incredibly proud of our Year 4 and Year 5 pupils who represented St John's Meads at Bede's Football Tournament on 18th September.

The team showed fantastic teamwork, determination, sportsmanship and resilience throughout the competition, and they performed remarkably well - winnig two games and coming 4th overall. They were excellent ambassadors for our school and demonstrated our LIGHT values both on and off the pitch.

Well done to all of the children involved. We are so proud of you! 🌟

🌊🎨 Introducing our new ‘Zone Area’! 🎨🌊

We’re so excited to share this fantastic addition to our playground — a colourful seaside-themed mural created by our wonderful 2026 leavers! 🐚☀️🌊

Prospective parents enjoyed a tour on Thursday evening but it was too dark to appreciate this amazing work so I promised to share on our social media channels.

Our wonderful Year 6 children left their mark on SJM with a mural that celebrates our school, our seaside surroundings and the memories they’ve made during their time with us. From the waves and sunshine to the names of our classes and our school community, there are so many little details to spot! 💙

The mural now brightens up our Zone Area, creating a special space for our current children to enjoy and a lasting reminder of our 2026 leavers. 🥰

A huge thank you to our talented Year 6 artists for leaving us with something so special. We absolutely love it! 🌈
