Our Beach School children had the best day yesterday rockpooling at Hollywell. The children got themselves ready by putting on wet weather suits and they headed straight to the beach - everyone’s faces lit up when they saw the low tide and after a quick snack they grabbed their nets and started exploring! It was lovely to see everyone working in teams, supporting each other and discussing ideas. The children quickly discovered most the crabs were hiding under rocks, so they positioned their nets while the rocks were moving and managed to catch a bucket full! 🦀 they all remained curious, engaged and focused for hours searching each rock pool and exploring the different shells, stones and seaweed we found along the way, we even managed to catch a fish! 🐟

Our Bluebells have loved taking part in a Dinosaur Rescue activity today. Their mission was to save the dinosaurs, that were frozen inside the dinosaur eggs. The children used great problem solving, and critical thinking skills to come up with ideas to save the dinosaurs. Some of the children used hammers, whilst others thought to throw the eggs on the floor to encourage them to smash. Some children tried putting some salt on the eggs, to see what would happen. Well done Bluebells!

We can't believe it is nearly time for our pre-school children to leave us. Once they have left, you can continue to access their learning journey via Famly, forever. Your child will be labelled as 'graduated' in your app, so you can continue to see all of their observations and assessments. If you would prefer for us to download your child's learning journey, and send it to you via PDF, then please let us know.

Thank you to those who came down to the pier this weekend, for our Beach School open morning. It was lovely to show you our classrooms, and for you to see what your children get up to when down on the beach.

For those who couldn’t make it, I wanted to share with you some photos of our Beach School provision, which I am sure you will agree, is absolutely fantastic.

The children spend most of their day out on the beach, where they experience the awe and wonder of the world, through carefully planned activities. For example, by going rockpooling, making sundials, litterpicking and metal detecting to name a few. The children love being out in the community, where they will visit the fish shop by princes park, and try new foods, or spend time in the local library. They enjoy learning about the history of Eastbourne, at places such as the wish tower, the lifeboat museum, and the Redoubt fortress.

After exploring their world around them, they have our 3 beautiful classrooms to come back to on Eastbourne Pier, as pictured below.

Beach School is such a fantastic experience, and we are so pleased we can offer it to our children 🥰

We have got a range of 3-4 and 5-6 preloved uniform outside the front of the nursery. Feel free to take a look, and take what you wish. We would really appreciate some more uniform donations. Thank you to those who have donated already.

BEACH SCHOOL HOLIDAY CLUB

Spend the holidays on the beach, exploring the environment, learning about marine life and beach safety.

We offer holiday club to children in the preschool year - 7 years 11 months.

Holiday club runs 8.30am - 5.30pm and costs £45 for the full day.

As you are aware, we have our clothes bank out the front. With the cost of living rising, would you be interested in our clothes bank also containing good quality, second hand uniforms from other families? These uniforms would be free of charge.

If this is something you would be interested in, then please comment below or message privately.

For this to work, we would really appreciate any unwanted uniform being passed back to us, so we can put it into our clothes bank.

Reusing and recycling school uniforms could help prevent hundreds of tonnes of plastic going to landfill, according to a new survey. It found that up to 1.4 million school uniforms, many of which could be reused, are thrown away every year.
