What a wonderful day we had at Drusillas Park! Little Learners, Rascals R Us Childcare and all at Alis enjoyed walking around the zoo🐒🦩🦥🐢, looking at all the amazing animals and talking about how they move and the sounds they make.

After exploring, we stopped for a well-deserved lunch 🥪🍌🍓🥑🥒🥕🍉 before heading off to enjoy lots of fun and active play in the under-5s play park. 🌳🛝.

Little Learners, Rascals R Us Childcare and Vicky’s had a wonderful visit to our local park 🌳, embracing the seasonal changes 🍁🍂🍁and becoming curious little nature explorers 🌰.

We went on an autumn hunt🍁🌰🍂🐿️, spotting signs of the changing season and collecting conkers 🌰 along the way. The children were fascinated to examine the spiky outer casing of the conker🌰 before it opened to reveal the smooth, shiny conker🌰 inside.

There were lots of opportunities for the children to develop their language 🗣️and understanding as they described what they could see 👀, feel 🙌🏼 and notice. They explored different textures, talked about the changes happening in nature and enjoyed collecting natural treasures 🍁🌰🍂.

We started our day ☔️ at LITTLE LAMBS TODDLER GROUP EVERY WEDNESDAY 9.30-11.30 (TERM TIME ONLY) play group before moving on to EMSR Adventure Parkfor lunch 🥪 and a play with Rascals R Us Childcare and Alis.

There were lots of smiles 😀, excitement 😆 and opportunities to explore as we enjoyed a fun-filled adventure together.

Trips like this provide so much more than just a fun day out. They help children to:

🗣️ Develop communication and language – children had plenty to talk about, from the trains 🚂 and journey to the things they could see 👀 around them.

Today at the Eastbourne Extra in the community. space we were joined by our friends from Rascals R Us Childcare and Ali’s, we took part in a range of engaging autumn-themed 🍁🍂🦔🐿️ activities, providing opportunities to develop their creativity, fine motor skills and sensory exploration.

The children used pens 🖊️ and crayons 🖍️ to create marks and colour autumnal pictures 🐿️🍁🍂, supporting the development of mark-making skills, ✋🏻hand-eye 👁️ coordination and fine motor control. ✏️

Our sensory activity involved exploring lentils alongside woodland animals 🐿️🦔🦊, autumn leaves🍁🍂, pots 🍳and scoops 🪏. The children enjoyed scooping🪏, pouring 🫗, filling and transferring materials, supporting their fine motor development, coordination and imaginative 🧠 play.

We’ve been busy exploring the colours 🟡🔴🟢, textures and treasures of autumn 🍂🍁 through lots of hands-on learning at Eastbourne Extra in the community. with Rascals R Us Childcare and Ali’s.

🦔 Shaving Foam Hedgehogs 🦔
We created our very own autumn 🍁 masterpieces using shaving foam and red🔴, yellow🟡 and green🟢 food colouring. We spiralled the colours into the foam, stirred 🥣 them together and then carefully placed our hedgehog 🦔 pictures on top to create beautiful marbled patterns!

🦊🦡Wooden Woodland Play Animals🦡🦊
We enjoyed imaginative play 🧠 with our wooden animals 🦊🦡🐿️🐭, creating little stories and exploring the different animals through play.

🔢 Counting Fun 🔢
Using number trays, toadstools 🍄 and acorns, we practised our counting skills and matched quantities to numbers.

🦔Decorating Hedgehogs 🦔
We also decorated foam hedgehogs🦔 using autumn leaves🍁🍂, developing our creativity and fine motor skills 👌🏻 as we carefully placed and arranged the leaves.

What a wonderful autumn-filled week of learning, exploring and creating! 🍂🍁🍂.

🎨 Pine cone painting 🎨

Today the very lovely Polegate Grasshoppers FC 💚allowed both Little Learners and Rascals R Us Childcare to use their wonderful home ground facilities at Westlords ⚽️.

We got creative with the beautiful colours of autumn 🧡💛❤️🤎.
The children used autumnal coloured paints 🎨 and pine cones to create their own unique pieces of artwork.

They explored mixing and choosing colours, experimented with different textures and patterns, and enjoyed seeing the interesting marks the pine cones created on the paper.

This activity supported the children’s creativity, fine motor skills 🤌🏾, hand-eye coordination 👀🤲🏼 and exploration of colour and texture, while encouraging them to make their own choices and express themselves through art.

We loved seeing all the wonderful and individual creations! 🍂❤️.

Little Learners, Rascals R Us Childcare and Ali’s
enjoyed an exciting visit to Arlington Reservoir, providing lots of opportunities to learn through first-hand experiences and exploration.
We walked 🚶🏾‍♀️🚶🏼‍♂️ to the bird hide🦅, looking carefully for autumn birds and noticing the changes in the natural environment around us 🍁🍂. The children developed their observation skills and talked 🗣️ about the wildlife 🐿️ they could see 👁️.

Along our route, we spotted the numbers 1–5 🔢 on the posts. The children practised recognising numerals and demonstrating the correct quantity ✌🏻☝🏾✋🏼for each number, developing their understanding of the relationship between numerals and amounts.
After our picnic lunch 🧺, we used magnifying glasses 🔍🔎 to investigate different insects 🦋🐝🐞🦟🐜🪲🪰🪳🕷️. The children carefully observed their findings and used our insect books 📖 to identify and match the mini-beasts they discovered.
Throughout our visit, the children shared their observations, talked 🗣️about what they had found and listened 👂🏻to their friends as they explored together.

Our walk 🚶🏾‍♀️🚶🏼‍♂️provided opportunities to develop coordination, balance and stamina as we explored the reservoir and its natural surroundings.

It was a wonderful day of learning through play, exploration and real-life experiences, with the children showing curiosity, enthusiasm and a real interest in the world around them.

Today at the Eastbourne Extra in the community. along with Rascals R Us Childcare and Ali’s we focused our activities around Autumn 🍂
🍂Falling Leaves Pictures🍂
The children used cotton buds and autumn colours 🔴🟤🟠🟡🟢 to create their own falling leaves 🍂pictures. This activity encouraged creativity while developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and control ✍🏾.

🍁 Leaf Shape Printing 🍁
Using a selection of leaf-shaped 🍁stampers, each child created their own individual piece of autumn artwork. We talked 🗣️ about the different colours 🟤🔴🟢🟡🟠 we could see 👀, supporting language development and encouraging children to make their own creative choices.

🧩 Autumn Scene Puzzles 🧩
The children also enjoyed autumn-themed puzzles, developing their problem-solving skills, concentration and perseverance as they matched the pieces 🧩together.

Through these activities, the children are developing skills across the EYFS, including:
