Lest we forget

We have had a great week celebrating all things Halloween from pumpkin carving to making toffee apples.
We have enjoyed sensory play with lentils,
Arts and crafts making handprint spiders and Halloween posters,
Potion making in the tuff tray with coloured water after reading our core text of the week Room on the Broom and We’re Going on a Ghost Hunt and
Writing shopping lists and popping to the shops for some treats, we finished the week off with a celebratory Halloween party which saw some great outfits and even better dance moves.

Today marks Emma’s Explorers 2nd year anniversary. Another wonderful year making some great memories with my amazing children and families. Watching and helping them learn and grow is a great privilege.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support, without you, I couldn’t do what I love doing and for that I cannot thank you all enough.

A huge thank you for my wonderful gift, it will take pride of place in the playroom and be a forever reminder of my amazing first ‘mindees’

We finished our week off with a trip to a local garden centre. We saw some great Halloween displays, continuing the interests around monsters.
We picked pumpkins. One little explorer wanting the biggest pumpkin we could find and another wanting a small pumpkin so he could pick it up 🎃👻💀

After reading Silly Monster’s Scary night, we were inspired to make our own monsters. We used playdough, googly eyes and coloured sticks to create our monsters.
This activity was great for developing fine motor skills and prompted lots of discussions about monsters, feelings, and textures (spikes/slimy). We counted eyes and spoke about the size of the monsters and we also spoke about similarities and differences between the monsters.

🍂 Exploring Conkers 🍂

Just some of the activities we have enjoyed with conkers

Collecting conkers at the park, forming letters, conker racing, making patterns, weighing conkers and balancing the scales, and number games.

A new season means only one thing, new invitations to play.
