Party feedback like this means so much.😀
It was a pleasure to be part of this celebration and to spend time with the children.

Last week at after-school club we spent time noticing the birds around us 🐦

We made our own binoculars, looked and listened for different birds, and talked about who might be visiting our gardens at this time of year.

We had such good fun that we’re continuing our bird theme this week, building on what the children were already curious about.

If you’re a parent and this feels like something your child (or their school) would enjoy, please get in touch.

A lovely piece of feedback from a school session 🌱

Nature Makers sessions can link naturally with a range of school and early years themes, including Earth Day, British Science Week, World Wildlife Day, seasonal learning and wellbeing-focused events such as Children’s Mental Health Week.

If your school, nursery or childminder group would like a nature-based session around one of these themes, I’d be very happy to hear from you.

Children’s Mental Health Week is coming up in early February 🌱

Research shows that spending time in nature can support emotional wellbeing, reduce stress and help children feel calmer and more grounded. Creative, hands-on activities also give children space to express themselves, build confidence and explore ideas in a gentle way.

As a qualified primary teacher with training in outdoor learning and Forest School (DBS checked and first aid trained), I run nature-based sessions that combine creative making with time outdoors, exploring and discovering the world around us.

If your school would like to offer a nature-inspired session for Children’s Mental Health Week, whether as part of the curriculum, or a small group workshop, I’d love to hear from you.

Please comment NATURE below or DM me here to discuss what might suit your setting and pupils.

🎉 Our parties are relaxed, creative and a little bit different.

We explore, make things and enjoy being outdoors — with space for parents to be involved too.

Parties run all year round, even in winter (with indoor backups).

Do get in touch for more information 😀

A little bit about me and Nature Makers East Sussex Coast:

I’m a qualified primary teacher with training in outdoor learning and Forest School, with full DBS checks, insurance and first aid training. I run nature-based art and craft sessions across East Sussex.

Nature Makers sessions can include:
- after-school clubs
- workshops in schools
- outdoor birthday parties
- pre-school/toddler sessions
- home education classes
- intergenerational sessions in care homes

All sessions use eco-friendly materials and focus on hands-on making, curiosity and time spent outdoors (with an indoor or sheltered backup when needed).

If you’re a school, family or community setting looking for something calm, creative and centred around nature, I’m always happy to chat.

I’m really looking forward to our new fully booked after-school starting this week at a local primary school.

These clubs work especially well for younger children, including Reception, and for schools that don’t currently have much on offer for that age group. Sessions are creative, hands-on and rooted in nature.

If this sounds like something your child’s school might enjoy, do get in touch — I’d be very happy to chat.

December was busy in all the usual ways — poorly children, end-of-term madness and everything piling up at once.

The last few days have felt a bit calmer and this was my first proper making project in a while: some small wooden mushrooms, made using skills I’ve been learning through my Forest School training (and a new knife and saw!)

I’ve got a new after-school Nature Makers club starting this term and I’m looking ahead to what the next few months might hold.

I’ll share more soon.

Happy New Year! 🎉

Here’s to fresh air, muddy boots and being creative in 2026!

🌿 Calling Brighton & Eastbourne Schools (and Parents!) 🌿
I’m currently looking for schools in and around Brighton and Eastbourne who would like to host a Nature Makers After School Club next term.

Our clubs blend forest-school–inspired activities with nature-based arts and crafts, giving children a calm, creative, outdoor-focused space at the end of the school day. Sessions are seasonal, hands-on and suitable for children from reception age.

If you’re a teacher, school enrichment lead, or a parent who thinks your school might love this, I’d really love to hear from you.
Please feel free to get in touch or pass this on to the right person.

Love the idea of Nature Makers but worried about the colder weather? 🌧️❄️

No need to worry! Most of our sessions are held at venues with indoor spaces or shelters, so if it’s too cold or wet, we can move inside and keep the fun going. We’re always ready to adapt, whether the session is fully outdoors, partly outdoors, or cozy inside.

That said, spending time outdoors in cooler weather is so beneficial for children! It helps build resilience, supports their immune system, and adds a sense of adventure. With the right layers, children can enjoy nature in every season.

So don’t let the weather stop you — we’re ready for whatever it brings! Book onto a Christmas special today!
