My thanks to Nick Nicholls for hosting yesterday’s seminar in Milton Keynes, and to everyone who supported the event. John and I are on the same page when it comes to functional karate, and it is always a pleasure to share the teaching with such a knowledgeable and respected Sensei. Keep your eyes peeled for dates in 2027 👍

My thanks to Christian Wedewardt for this review and for the wonderful experience of teaching at the Karate Praxis Group seminars in August this year. I'm looking forward to returning in March 2027 🙏

Christian’s review:

I've known Don came for a number of years now. We met for the first time in Guildford (UK), at a seminar organised by Les Bubka. "Change partners, please!" I turned around and Don was my next training-mate. It instantly clicked.
Both liking physical training with a good body feedback, logical and fluent moves and using physics to make our techniques better. So we enjoyed working as partners. Over time our paths crossed again and again.
Don's reputation as a highly skilled Karate Teacher speaks for itself, but there is more to be told.
As a tall, heavy, strong person, it would be easy for him to let his body do the work for him and teach accordingly. But not at all. His classes are structured and explained in technical function, positioning, distance management, and mindset. Presented in a fresh way, and when he asks for someone to be his Uke for the next demonstration, everyone has fun. The Uke and the others watching.

Don was just last weekend -- 15-16 August 2026 -- international guest teacher on a Karatepraxis-Group seminar alongside Les Bubka, Ludwig Binder and Jürgen Höller.

Everyone loved his sessions, so the invitation for the next Karatepraxis-Group Seminar in 2027 is already out.

Don't miss your chance to train with Don!

Good posture is essential for good technique. But it is not that simple, because each technique has its own posture. Transitions from one position to the next should be fluid, or you lose power.

Look for the hook! All techniques have them; it's how we build the combinations and the fluidity.
