A very warm welcome to our state of the art Sapphires Nursery School that is open from 7.30am to 6.30pm 51 weeks of the year for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We are located just across the river from Hampton Court, at St Mary’s Church Hall in the heart of East Molesey. sery School we see every child just like a precious jewel that has been carefully set in a royal crown and every day we look forward to encouraging them to interact together, relate to one another and have a real sense of joy and adventure. Your child will be able to enjoy our secure, secret garden where they can explore and measure, dig and plant, or just enjoy the stream and watch our wormery. Inspired by our Christian foundation, we welcome with open arms children and families from all faiths and none into our vibrant and inclusive community, where both nursery teachers and parents are encouraged to work together in close partnership. Our amazing teachers are trained in a research based approach, called Circle of Security, about how to meet children’s needs and ensure stronger social emotional development. We believe that this will enable your child to flourish and we will work with you to ensure they are prepared for their next school. We hope that before coming to visit us, our website will provide you with a glimpse into our exciting new world. Whilst parents may have found this website by using search terms like 'day nursery' in East Molesey, we prefer the term Nursery School as it more accurately reflects our unique and nurturing environment.

What a wonderful day celebrating our Kingfishers graduates from SNS a few weeks ago – here's to their next incredible adventure!

We are incredibly proud of how each precious child has grown in confidence, independence, resilience and curiosity, while learning to SHINE (share, help, include others and never, ever give up) brightly!

Like beautiful butterflies, they are now ready to spread their wings and begin their next adventure. We will miss them enormously, but we are so excited to see where their journey takes them.

Our SNS graduation ceremony was followed by a tasty tea and some delicious cupcakes.

Thank you to our dedicated SNS team and to all our parents and families for your trust, support and partnership. It has been an enormous privilege to nurture your children and watch them flourish.

🍓 A Fruit Filled Adventure as SNS head out to Garsons Farm 🍓

Our preschool children had a wonderful trip to Garsons Farm. Our adventure began with an exciting minibus journey, with everyone full of anticipation about what they might discover.

At the farm, the children picked delicious strawberries and raspberries and were amazed by the abundance of fruit growing all around them. They explored the life cycle of a strawberry, learning how it begins as a beautiful flower before developing into the ripe, juicy fruit we know and love. They also observed the long raspberry canes and discovered how the fruit grows along them.

It was a wonderful opportunity to bring the children’s learning to life through hands on learning and real life experiences, connecting what they had seen in books and discussed at nursery with the plants growing around them.

Back at SNS, our little chefs used their freshly picked fruit to make a delicious strawberry and raspberry crumble. They explored the colours, smells, tastes and textures of the fruit while washing and preparing it, measuring and mixing the ingredients and sprinkling the crumble topping over the fruit.

A special experience filled with fresh air, discovery, teamwork and, of course, plenty of fruit tasting! 🍓

SNS headed out on a River Dipping Adventure

Our children had a wonderful time exploring the River Mole and getting hands-on with nature!

Armed with nets and plenty of curiosity, the children carefully searched the water for fish and other fascinating river creatures. We managed to catch plenty of 'Bleak Fish' giving us a wonderful opportunity to observe them up close and learn more about these fascinating little fish.

We also talked about the importance of protecting and caring for our local river and its precious wildlife, learning how we can all help to keep these precious habitats clean and safe. And, of course, there was plenty of time for fun! The children loved splashing in the water, collecting pebbles in all different colours, shapes and sizes, and watching the beautiful dragonflies skimming across the surface of the river.

Everyone at SNS loves working with Playball and wants to say a huge thank you to Gareth and his amazing team!

As another wonderful year of Playball comes to an end, we’re celebrating just how much the children have learnt and developed through their weekly sessions.

From balance, coordination, running, jumping, throwing and catching, to listening, turn-taking, resilience, communication and teamwork, Playball supports every area of children’s development.

Our youngest children have been building confidence, independence, body awareness and a love of movement through imaginative play. Our older children have developed more advanced ball skills, sporting techniques, reaction times and decision-making, while strengthening important skills that will help prepare them for school.

Throughout the year, the Playball coaches carefully observe each child’s progress. Every child receives an individual assessment and report, followed by a special medal presentation celebrating everything they’ve achieved.

We’re so proud of all our children and the enthusiasm, perseverance and joy they bring to every session. Thank you to Gareth and the wonderful Playball coaches for another fantastic year at SNS.

Thank you to everyone who made our SNS Sports Day and Big Family Picnic 2026 so special.

We were so proud to see the children giving their all in the different races and activities. They ran, jumped, caught, cheered, joined in and shone so brightly.

The day began with a warm welcome from Molesey and our annual parade around the cricket pitch to Chariots of Fire. Action Amanda then made sure everyone joined in, however young or old, with a brilliant cardio warm up before the races.

There was so much for the children to enjoy, from face painting and shaded soft play, to tiny mice being gently handled, baby goats skipping around, ducklings, a beautiful pony and even a calf.

After a break for our picnics, we held the SNS tug of war, with parents and our SNS team joining in all the action. Well done, Dads; a clear win this year.

We ended the day with a special medal ceremony to celebrate every child.

Most importantly, it was a day for our SNS community to come together. Families shared precious time, parents made new friends, and the children flourished in the joy of it all, making memories that will last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to our amazing SNS team, our families, and everyone who helped make the day so special.

Developing a love of Nature at SNS. A fond farewell to our friendly frogs. 🐸

Over the past few weeks, our children have been captivated by one of nature’s most fascinating transformations.

From frog spawn to tadpoles, then growing legs and arms before becoming froglets, the children have observed every stage of the life cycle with wonder and excitement.

Through careful observation, meaningful conversations, and diving into fascinating books, the children have developed a deep understanding of this incredible process and a genuine sense of care for the living creatures they were nurturing.

Thursday was the day our froglets returned to the wild. Together, the children headed out from the Nursery to the wilderness and chose a beautiful shady spot beside the water, surrounded by damp undergrowth and natural shelter.

Sitting quietly and patiently, we watched as the froglets climbed from their tank and began exploring their new home. Some seemed in no hurry to leave, choosing instead to rest on the children’s hands for a few moments before continuing their adventure. The children were delighted by these memorable moments and treated their tiny visitors with great care and respect.

There were smiles, gasps of excitement, and a few emotional goodbyes as the froglets hopped away into the undergrowth.

Experiences like these help children develop curiosity, empathy, responsibility, and a lifelong connection with the natural world.

Our little froglets will be greatly missed. It has been a privilege to observe their remarkable growth and transformation and to share this unforgettable learning journey with the children. 🐸

SNS Gardening Club Summer Update

It has been wonderful to watch the children develop their gardening skills, and learn about how plants grow, and take pride in caring for their environment. We are all looking forward to seeing the SNS garden flourish in the summer!

Over the past few weeks, our SNS Gardening Club children have been busy exploring, planting, nurturing, and harvesting in our outdoor spaces! They have enjoyed picking and smelling fresh herbs, including - oregano, mint, and lemon balm, while learning all about the flowers and vegetables growing in our garden.

They have planted out a variety of seeds and plants, including - Swiss chard, parsnips, peas, climbing beans, cucumbers, sunflowers, nasturtiums, geraniums, and some colourful snapdragon flowers to attract pollinators.

Also they have taken great care of our garden - learning all about the importance of watering it regularly and maintaining the planting areas. They were all so excited to harvest fresh spinach, peas, and beautiful flowers, as well as prepare raised beds and containers for new planting.

Visitors Cause Stir at SNS

SNS had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Tom and his incredible collection of exotic animals to the Nursery this week.

Tom shared his huge knowledge about each annd every animal, explaining that his millipede has hundreds of legs to help it move along the ground, allowing the children to gently stroke and bravely
hold each animal. Among our visitors was a beautiful, spiky, and ever so friendly bearded dragon, who happily settled on the warm laps of the children to their delight.

The giant African land snails made for a slimy spectacle, while Harry the tortoise surprised everyone with his unusual speed as he explored the classrooms.

The final highlight of the visit wasssssssssss……. a royal python, which quickly became the children’s favourite. They demonstrated remarkable bravery, eagerly asking to hold Hermione around their shoulders or cradle her in their arms, enjoying the smooth texture of her skin and learning that she can grow up to 5 feet long!

I am sure many wonderful dreams were sparked in the children’s imagination this week - who knows we might be fostering future zookeepers, zoologists or David Attenboroughs!

This week SNS was filled with excitement as some duck eggs were safely delivered in a warm incubator.
The children eagerly observed every stage of the hatching process, watching and waiting for the first tiny cracks and celebrated as the ducklings began to hatch.

They explored the life cycle of a duck, learning how living creatures grow and change over time.

The children showed great care and responsibility, helping to keep the ducklings’ environment clean and cosy, and delighting in watching them splash and bathe in the water.

We are so grateful to one of our wonderful SNS families who looked after the ducklings over the weekend — they returned to us very happy indeed!

This hands-on experience sparked awe and wonder , and lots of thought provoking conversations, as the children made connections between what they observed and their own ideas about the world around them.

Yesterday, we finally said a sad goodbye to our ducklings as they returned to the farm, where they now have plenty of space to grow and thrive.

It has been a truly precious experience for the children, bringing joy, wonder, and meaningful learning to our week

There’s something truly precious about pausing and becoming still to witness nature close up - especially through the eyes of our Bluebells

Our journey began when the caterpillars arrived at SNS, immediately capturing the children’s curiosity. Over the next few days, the Bluebells eagerly observed them grow, sang songs inspired by their tiny visitors, and enjoyed listening to their favourite story - The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

As the caterpillars prepared to form chrysalises, the children began to wonder aloud, “Caterpillars, where?”—a beautiful reflection of their growing understanding of change and transformation.

After our Easter break, we returned to the Nursery to find an exciting surprise before us – three butterflies had emerged!

The room was filled with excitement as the Bluebells watched them closely, joyfully repeating “flap, flap butterfly".

We were even blessed to witness the final butterfly emerge from its chrysalis—a memorable moment that sparked awe and wonder.

A few days later, it was time to say goodbye to the butterflies. The children spent gentle, quiet moments with the butterflies as they landed softly on their little hands and arms, before fluttering off to explore the local countryside.

Wonderful experiences like these nurture curiosity, patience, and a deep appreciation for nature and the world around us – creating memories that will last a lifetime.
