Another lovely day in Sunbeams! 🎵☀️
With the warm weather today, we’ve done our best to help the children stay cool and comfortable. We encouraged plenty of calm, seated activities, offered regular water breaks throughout the day, and enjoyed lots of water play to keep everyone refreshed. 💦😊
Today’s activities included:
🧱 Duplo building, using our imaginations to create all sorts of wonderful structures.
🌟 Playdough fun, strengthening little fingers and encouraging creativity.
🔔 Mark-making with our bell pens, exploring the sounds they made as we drew and moved them in different ways.
🎤 Crafting our very own microphones, followed by some fantastic singing performances! The children loved showing off their voices and joining in with our Music and Sound theme.
⚽ Ball throwing games, helping to develop coordination, turn-taking, and gross motor skills.
It’s been wonderful to see the children enjoying music, creativity, and play. Well done, Sunbeams! 🎶

Tuesday in Rainbows 🌈

We’ve had a fun, calm, and relaxed morning in Rainbows today, enjoying lots of activities while keeping cool with water play and indoor games.

Today’s activities included:

💚 Green Water Tuff Tray – The children enjoyed transferring and scooping water between different containers, developing their fine motor skills and exploring capacity.

🥚 Golden Egg Craft – Using sponges, the children created their own golden eggs, experimenting with colour and texture.

🎨 Wanted Posters – Inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk, the children drew and designed their own wanted posters, sharing their ideas and practising their mark-making skills.

🌟 Playdough Station – Lots of squeezing, rolling, and shaping helped strengthen little hands while encouraging creativity.

🧗 A-Frame Climbing – The children challenged themselves on the climbing frame, building confidence, balance, and coordination.

📏 Measuring Beanstalks – Using Unifix cubes, the children measured different beanstalks and compared their lengths, using mathematical language such as taller, shorter, more, and less.

It’s been lovely to see the children enjoying a slower-paced morning, working together, exploring, and having lots of fun. 😊🌈

☀️ Another scorcher today! ☀️

A big thank you to Eden, who had the brilliant idea of bringing a UV top and shorts in his bag. If anyone else would like to do the same, you are more than welcome – it’s incredibly helpful for our water play activities! 💦

We’ve been working hard to keep everyone cool while exploring this week’s theme, 🎵 Music and Sound 🎵.

Today’s activities included:

🥁 Taking pots and pans into the water and experimenting with making sounds – loud, quiet, fast and slow.

🎶 Exploring the xylophone. Amy played songs for us, reading from the music sheet and singing through the numbers while we guessed which songs they were. The children then enjoyed having a go themselves!

✏️ Mark making in cornflour gloop using different utensils, listening carefully to the sounds they made and noticing how they changed depending on the pressure used.

💦 Lots and lots of water play! The children paddled, splashed, washed cars, painted with water and, most importantly, had a fantastic time keeping cool in the sunshine.

What a lovely day of learning, creativity and fun! ☀️🎵💙

🎵🎶 What a fantastic day we’ve had in Sunbeams as we begin exploring our Music and Sound theme!

The children have been busy investigating different sounds, movements, and creative ways to express themselves through play.
Today’s activities included:

🎨 Splat painting, creating colourful artwork while exploring different movements and patterns.

💦 Water play, with lots of splashing, pouring, and sensory exploration.

🔔 Mark-making with bells attached to our tools. The children listened carefully to the sounds they made, exploring loud and quiet noises and discovering how fast and slow movements created different sounds.

🥁 Musical maths, where we counted drum beats together and practised our counting skills through rhythm and sound.

🚗 Exploring fast and slow with cars and ramps. The children investigated how changing the height of the ramps affected the speed of the cars and the sounds they made as they travelled.

🌈 Colour ball throwing, developing coordination and colour recognition while having lots of fun.

It has been wonderful to see the children so engaged as they explored music, sound, movement, and rhythm throughout the day. We can’t wait for more musical adventures tomorrow! 🎵⭐

What a way to end our Farm Week!

The children spent their morning weaving farm animals, squeezing, rolling and pressing play dough crops, reading farm stories, singing and dancing to our favourite rhymes, making potions and painting with vegetables from Sunbeams’ farm shop!

This afternoon, we were super lucky to have a visit from our farm animals friends!

The children had a chance to get up close to donkeys, pigs and sheep. Some even brushed and stroked them. We saw such lovely, responsible farmers developing.

Thank you Sunbeams for looking after our farm, our animals and our planet!
