🌟 Focus in iStudy! 🌟
With some Year 11s out on a very important Geography Fieldtrip adventure, I took the opportunity to see what was happening in our iStudy room! It is such a brilliant space for learning; alongside Homework Club in the iStudy from 3:15pm - 4:15pm, Monday to Thursday, it’s also providing a great setting for focused intervention.
Today, our GCSE Dance students were so focused in the iStudy, analysing professional works, exploring exam structure and breaking down a model answer to understand what good looks like ready for their Year 11 Mock exams in November! Fantastic to see confidence and readiness building; great study habits and resilience! 📚💪

Celebrating recent success in art for year 7 students

This half term students have been focusing on developing key skills in art . Developing an understanding of form , tone, spacial recession, and shape .
The students were set a independent development task of producing a double page artist students and a large number of them have really impressed the art team. Here are just a few of the fantastic examples.

🧪 Thinking Like Scientists
Fantastic work from our Triple Scientists yesterday as they developed their understanding of biodiversity , ecosystems and chains.
Students were confidently using scientific vocabulary, sharing examples and making connections between concepts to build a stronger understanding of how ecosystems work as systems.
Extra homework brought in too.
Brilliant commitment and curiosity! 🌱🔬

Food Science in Action!
Our Food Technology students have been putting food science into practice, learning about coagulation while making toad in the hole.
In just a 50-minute lesson, students had to combine scientific understanding with practical skills, health and safety, organisation of equipment and ingredients and, crucially, careful timing.
It is fantastic to see their confidence and practical skills continuing to develop. 👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳
Understanding the science behind food, then applying it in the kitchen. Brilliant work!

🇫🇷 Passé, présent, futur… nos linguistes sont prêts! 🇫🇷
Our GCSE French students have been enjoying a tense masterclass, strengthening their use of the past, present and future and revisiting areas of the curriculum that needed un peu plus de pratique! 💪
It was especially brilliant to hear Dylan proudly sharing how he has been revising using flashcards. Seeing those revision techniques being put into action in lesson is exactly what we love. The learning is sticking! 🧠✨

👨‍🍳 A brilliant bit of teamwork in Food Science yesterday!
Cody and Oshen worked in partnership, taking on the roles of Head Chef and Commis Chef, to produce homemade chicken goujons, seasoned hand-cut wedges and vegetables, all cooked from scratch.
Alongside developing their practical cookery skills, they explored the science behind cooking, including heat transfer and the Maillard reaction, which helps create that delicious golden-brown colour and flavour during cooking.
The real challenge? Working under pressure to prepare, cook and plate a complete meal ready for tasting and sensory analysis in just 50 minutes! ⏱️👏
Fantastic teamwork, organisation and communication in the kitchen. 🍗🥔🥦
And just look at the brilliant presentation from Eliza who has won the Head Chef Award this week for her cooking skills in making chicken curry from scratch! Well done Eliza !

💫 No limits!
What does ambition look like? Sometimes, quite literally, it looks like this!
Year 7 have been embracing every challenge in Dance, learning set phrases before developing their own choreography using choreographic devices and contrasting dynamic qualities.
It’s a brilliant example of what happens when pupils are prepared to have a go, build their skills and push beyond what they thought they could do.
In our curriculum, ambition isn’t just about reaching the top. It’s about being brave enough to take the next step. No limits! 🚀

🧪 “What do you think is going to happen?”
Sometimes one question is all it takes to spark curiosity.
In science, our pupils are encouraged to wonder, predict, test, observe and explain. It’s not simply about getting the right answer. It’s about developing the confidence to ask why?, how? and what if?
That sense of discovery is exactly what we want our curriculum to inspire. 🔬✨

🌟 We love catching our students getting it right!

Our pastoral and curriculum teams have been handing out a few Brag Cards this half term, which mean bonus House Points! We hand them out quietly, whenever we spot students in lessons levelling up through kindness, great study habits, positive choices or the tenacity to keep going when learning gets tough.

It’s been a pleasure welcoming our governors, and primary tour visitors this week and showing them our calm, focused classrooms and students fantastic approaches to learning in action.
