It’s with great sadness that I have make this post. Yesterday my friend, my coach my instructor and my early inspiration in Karate passed away. Eddie was the first person I met that didn’t just train or practiced Karate he studied it, he lived breathed slept and ate our sport unlike anyone I had come across. He was obsessed with how to make Karate work for real.
He was the founder of the first Yamakai club in the 70’s and when I went full time and had to create a separate identity for my clubs he insisted I use his old club name in order to keep a bond between us, something I’ve always cherished on a personal level.
My memories are far and varied, from brutal training sessions to talking about Karate until the small hours of many mornings, road trips to competitions and house parties some of the best times in my life.
RIP my friend I will miss you so much.
