Glenesk Pre-Prep is situated in the heart of East Horsley. Our avid Gardening Club revelled in village life this week as they planted Nasturtiums and Kale. Sweetpeas were secured with twine to the teepee cane to help them grow.

New skills were learnt as they made and tasted fresh Elderflower cordial. The elderflowers were picked from a local garden and mixed with water, sugar and lemon to create a deliciously refreshing drink. It was the perfect way to cool down and rehydrate after a busy day at school!

A wonderful afternoon of gardening, learning and enjoying the fruits (and flowers) of local environment.

On Sunday we had the most wonderful Summer Fair, rebranded this year as Glenesk Fest. The sunshine was shining and the atmosphere was vibrant. Such a brilliant community event showcasing the 'Glenesk Magic'. Thank you to our wonderful FOGS team for all their hard work and thank you to our amazing teachers who happily volunteered for 'Splat The Teacher!'

Our Reception-Year 2 School Council representatives came together for a meeting with a difference today! The sheer joy of using the water cooler to get a refreshing drink and selecting a fruit snack to eat was delightful to see ❤️

A super discussion followed and we talked about, ‘What Makes Playtime Fun’….

Year 2 Child, ‘It is time where you can socialise with all of your friends in school .’

Year 1 Child, ‘Playing around with my friends in the corner where the logs are.’

Reception Child, ‘We get to run around.’

And then shared ideas on ‘How Playtime Could Be Improved’….

Year 2 Child, ‘Fresh crops, we could grow things.’

Year 1 Child, ‘Tennis nets, foldable ones.’

Reception Child, ‘We could have more toys.’

Next week School Council will feedback their ideas to the rest of the school in our assembly and then gather their ideas too.👏

Our Year 1 swimmers had a fantastic time at today’s Swimming Gala against Tormead. Speed, Style, Sportsmanship, and Beaming Smiles as they raced through the water.

The Glenesk pool and fabulous Glenesk swimming teachers are a weekly highlight for every child from age 2.

Rising Reception enjoyed a short walk to Horsley Railway Station today. The children were fascinated by the trains and enjoyed making connections between their learning about Transport and the real world.

We had some wonderful discussions about where the trains may be travelling to…their ideas included, the Zoo, London. Safari and Legoland!

The trip ended with a yummy babyccino to enjoy! The children’s behaviour, focus and engagement was excellent. We are so proud of our Rising Reception explorers.

Today our AMAZING children took part in a Charity Fun Run in aid of Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance. 🚁

This wonderful initiative was created by our brilliant School Council (aged 4-7), who wanted to bring our whole school community together for something fun while raising money for an incredible cause. They truly are a fantastic pupil voice.

Our youngest runners (aged 2-3) completed 5 laps of the Astro, while our 3-4 year olds ran 10 laps. Our 4-5 year old children also completed 10 laps with an extra stretch added on! Year 1 moved onto the field for 10 laps, and Year 2 amazed us all with 15 laps. 🏃

The energy, determination and enthusiasm across the school today was incredible. To help keep count, every child carried a special lap grid which was stamped by a team of children each time they passed by- teamwork at its best. 👏

We finished our celebrations with delicious helicopter biscuits baked by our wonderful school kitchen team and refreshing apple juice for all our runners.

We are so proud of every single child today-what an achievement. ❤️

Gardening Club at Glenesk Pre-Prep have been busy planting Tomato Plants 🍅

Our Reception to Year 2 Gardening Club attendees have had great fun, while also developing teamwork, listening and fine motor skills. They contributed brilliantly to discussions about what plants need to grow and enjoyed getting hands-on in our outdoor learning environment.

We are excited to watch our tomato plants grow over the coming weeks.

We had such a magical time at Abinger Stream today. From racing handmade boats to pond dipping and discovering tiny freshwater creatures the day was full of excitement, curiosity and adventure. The children showed great enthusiasm (and competitive spirit) as they cheered each other on and explored the natural world around them.

After a morning of splashing and discovering, we warmed up with hot chocolate and biscuits in the park before heading back to school- happy, refreshed and full of stories to tell.

A truly unforgettable day of exploration, laughter and learning.
