🎒 Back to School Information: First Week Schedule 🎒

We are excited to welcome students back for the start of the 2026/2027 academic year! Please review the key details below for the first two days:

📅 Wednesday, 2nd September 2026 (Week A)
Only Year 7 & Year 11 in school.

08:25 – 08:50: Year 7 Assembly (Main Hall) | Year 11 Tutor Time (Tutor Rooms)

Period 1: Year 7 Form Time (Tutor Rooms) | Year 11 Assembly (Main Hall)

Periods 2–5: Normal Lessons for Year 7 & Year 11

📅 Thursday, 3rd September 2026 (Week A)
All year groups in school (except Year 13). Year 12 will have an Induction Day off-timetable.

Timings:

Tutor Time, Period 1 and 5 are times in community assemblies and tutor bases.
Period 3: Year 12 Assembly (Dining Hall)
Periods 2–4: Normal lessons (please come with the correct equipment ready for learning!

📌 REMINDER: Important Update on Free School Meals Applications 📌

A quick reminder for all current and future Sackville families regarding upcoming changes to Free School Meals (FSM):

🗓️ It is now time to apply: If your child is in Year 6 moving to Sackville, please do not apply before 2nd August 2026. Applying early may accidentally link your application to their current primary school.

📋 Year 6 families must reapply: Due to new government rules, current eligibility will not automatically transfer, and all Year 6 FSM families need to reapply.

🔄 Annual rechecks starting September: The government is ending 'Transitional Protections', meaning eligibility will now be checked yearly.

If you receive Universal Credit or other qualifying support, please submit your online application starting 2nd August via the West Sussex County Council Free School Meals webpage.

Have you been ‘Keeble’d’? ⏳🔬

On Wednesday, we bid farewell to the absolute legend that is Mr Keeble. After an incredible 40 years in the profession and 29 legendary years right here at Sackville his longevity is unmatched.

Having connected with and inspired learners across four different decades, we know what a massive hole he’ll leave in our community!

For anyone who doesn't know, being ‘Keeble’d’ is an affectionate term coined by the Science department (who will miss him dearly!). It’s that exact moment when you have approximately 20 seconds to get to your destination, but Mr Keeble catches your eye... and suddenly you’re 45 minutes deep into a fascinating chat about quantum mechanics, school history, or the meaning of life. 🧠⚡️

To put 40 years of teaching into perspective, let’s look at the numbers:
📊 The Stats Behind the Legend:
36,400 periods in school
Outlived every tech era: He started teaching before the invention of the World Wide Web, watched the first iPhone launch, and survived the transition from SIMS all the way to Bromcom!

A walking Physics timeline:
In his time, we discovered the Higgs Boson, confirmed gravitational waves, and took the first photo of a black hole. Coincidence? We think not.

They say energy can neither be created nor destroyed it only changes form. So while Mr Keeble is officially transferring his kinetic energy into maximum potential energy for retirement, his impact at Sackville will be felt for lightyears to come. ✨

We truly wish you the absolute best in your well-deserved retirement, Mr Keeble. Thank you for everything, and don’t be a stranger we’re always ready to get Keeble’d one more time! 💙⚛️

The end of term is officially here, and summer is calling!

Off the back of a sensational CEW and some incredible end-of-term assemblies and graduations, we couldn’t be prouder of everything our students have achieved. You’ve worked hard, brought the energy, and finished the year on such a high note. 🌟

Bushcraft 2026! 🌲✨

It’s the morning after CEW, and all across town, students (and the amazing volunteer staff) are finally waking up from some well-deserved rest! 😴 Let’s be honest residentials can be tough, but they are unmatched when it comes to developing independence, resilience, and true teamwork. 💪🎒
