☀️ What Makes Summer at Sunnyside So Special? ☀️
At Sunnyside Preschool, summer is a season of adventure, discovery and preparing for exciting new beginnings.
This term, our children will be exploring our theme of "The World Around Us", taking part in exciting learning experiences inspired by:
🌊 Under the Sea
🦜 Jungles and Rainforests
🌳 Forests and Woodlands
🦁 Safari Adventures
🎶 Music from Around the World, celebrating World Music Day on 21st June
🏖️ Holidays, the Seaside, Camping and the Zoo🎒 Transitioning to School
💙 Celebrating Father's Day
What makes Sunnyside unique is that these topics come to life through real-world experiences. Our large garden provides endless opportunities for outdoor learning, exploration and play, while our local environment becomes an extension of our classroom.
Our children enjoy:
🐰 Observing the rabbits that live at the Peredur centre
🐸 Exploring our pond and discovering local wildlife
🌻 Visiting the Peredur biodiversity garden and learning about nature and sustainability in the Peredur gardens.
🚶‍♀️ Taking local walks within our community
🛝 Trips to the local park to develop physical confidence and social skills
🛒 Visits to local shops to learn about the world around them and build independence.

We also have some exciting events to look forward to this term, including our very own Sunnyside Sports Day and a special preschool trip to Godstone Farm, where children can continue their learning through hands-on experiences and adventure.

As our oldest children begin preparing for their transition to school, we focus on building confidence, independence, resilience and friendships, ensuring they are ready for their next exciting chapter.
At Sunnyside, we believe children learn best through meaningful experiences, exploration and play—and summer is the perfect time for all three.

🍂🌿 Our Visits to Standen 🌿🍂

After another beautiful visit to Standen before the half term, I wanted to highlight the wonderful benefits of our annual trips out.
At Sunnyside preschool, we are passionate about giving children opportunities to learn beyond the classroom. That's why we love our regular visits to Standen just before the October and the May half terms.
These trips provide wonderful opportunities for children to explore the natural world, develop their confidence and independence, and enjoy new experiences with their friends.
Whether we're discovering the beautiful gardens in spring, enjoying autumn colours, spotting wildlife, or simply taking in the sights and sounds of nature, every visit offers valuable learning experiences that support all areas of development.
Some of the many benefits of our Standen trips include:
*Encouraging a love of nature and the outdoors
*Supporting physical development through exploration and movement
*Building confidence and resilience in new environments
*Developing social skills through shared experiences
*Inspiring curiosity, imagination and creativity

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a special place to visit throughout the year, and we love seeing the excitement on the children's faces as they explore, learn and make lasting memories.

Thank you to everyone that made it to our Easter social event it was lovely to see so many families outside of Preschool 😀
Preschool starts again tommorow. Our theme is Lifecycles, specifically Caterpillars and Frogs.
