It’s Workshop Wednesday and today we’re all about jewellery making and a return visit from the brilliant Charlotte Duckworth from The Silver Duck.
In our immersive Silver Bangle workshop you’ll discover the sheer magic of moving metal. We’ll begin by sketching out your bangle design, learning how to shape and transform silver using traditional forging and texturing techniques. With every hammer strike, you’ll see your unique piece take form!

Charlotte is a highly experienced, imaginative silversmith and jewellery maker who has been teaching and hosting workshops since 2013 - you'll explore the essential tools, methods, and finishes used by professional silversmiths. You'll love it - why not book on with a friend and spend a brilliantly creative day together using our ATTEND WITH A FRIEND deal.

Alice Hodge and Lorraine Robbins celebrate vibrant, characterful, and wonderfully quirky artworks. The showcase brings together Hodge's prints - recreated from the work of her late father, Anthony Hodge (one-time resident artist here at Prema back in the late 80s/early 90s) and Lorraine’s experimental ceramic creations. Together, the pieces complement one another, bursting with bold colour, a sense of fun and a narrative quality.

Psst … this is your one-week countdown to the Rheingans Sisters gig at Prema; Gloucestershire’s most intimate live music venue.

The dynamic folk duo bring us a splendid early spring gig; an uplifting live musical journey. Taking in baroque fiddle tunes and trance beats, metal-inspired arrangements of traditional ballads and improvisation, sisters Rowan and Anna make music like painters, revealing in bold colours their unmistakable brand of avant-garde trad, blending ancient song and universal stories with future imaginings, dystopias and dreams.

Don’t miss their powerful, genre-spanning musical journey which fuses traditional roots with raw innovation, this immersive show positively pulses with drones, dance rhythms, and urgent songs for our times.

Sashiko & Boro Mending Techniques

These days we all feel the need to be a bit more resourceful and today’s Workshop Wednesday reminds us that make-do-and-mend can be super-creative and brilliantly inventive!

Join artist and maker Ally Goff for a fabulous day of slow and meditative stitching, designing and forming practical mending just one stitch at at time!

Our Sashiko & Boro workshop offers a mindful introduction and contemporary twist on the traditional Japanese mending techniques. Using a simple running stitch this class is suitable for every level. Working with indigo cloth and white threads we’ll explore basic stitching, pattern drawing using a 1cm grid, and use stencils to create a variety of decorative stitches to create an eye-catching decorative patch or pyramid purse.

All materials are provided, although if you have your own sewing kit, please feel free to bring it along.

Die-cut doozies

We’ve got a whole new range of remarkable die-cut cards in stock from artists Mark Hearld, Angela Harding and Sarah Young (amongst others). If you’re looking for something more than a card but which won’t break the bank we have an array of die-cut wonders, sure to take pride-of-place on the recipient’s mantelpiece.

Prema is sure to have the perfect card for any occasion. And if you’re like us (and have a right old stash of cards - you can never have too many, right?) then you need to pop along and have a rummage through the racks and the secret stocks we have lurking the back-office.

We’re entering the final few days of our current exhibitions, make sure to catch them before they disappear this coming Saturday (14th February). We’re open Thursday & Friday from 9am until 4pm (and then open again on the Friday evening for the fabulous RANT), back open again on Saturday from 9am until 3pm (when the glass exhibition will begin its dismantling).

Upstairs, the wonderful, evocative paintings from artist Frances Clark-Stone. Her paintings often feature landscapes, inspired by places both real and imagined, sometimes populated with figures and animals. The interpretation is always left open to the viewer and the paintings are easy to lose yourself in the dreamlike atmosphere.

In the showcase and in Vestry Cafe we have Elements:Interpreted in Glass - a fabulous group show of makers. The brief for the show invited each exhibiting artist to explore their own interpretation “elements”, producing a diverse collection of artworks, each a beautiful extension of its artist's distinctive style. Featuring both local and international talent, the artists hail from the UK, the USA and Canada, brought together for this special exhibition, curated by artist and glass tutor Catherine Dunstan.
