💙 We always love hearing from schools using Connect!

It’s wonderful to hear how Connect is being experienced by teachers and, most importantly, the children they work with.

“We are loving Connect in our school and have seen a positive improvement within the children’s wellbeing which has been amazing to see and to foster.”

— Jennie Williams, Health and Wellbeing Area of Learning and Experience (AoLE) Lead

Creating opportunities for children to develop practical wellbeing skills is at the heart of Connect. 🌱

Thank you to Jennie for sharing her experience with us!

🌱 New Blog: Connect and the 6 Ways to Wellbeing

In our latest blog, Dr Duncan Gillard explores the 6 Ways to Wellbeing which form the wellbeing themes at the heart of the Connect Curriculum.

These six behaviours — connecting with others, challenging ourselves, giving to others, exercising, embracing the moment and self-care — offer simple, practical ways to support psychological wellbeing.

In a world where there can be so much complexity around psychological approaches to unwanted thoughts and feelings, sometimes there is real power in keeping things simple.

🌱 Why does Connect provide training for teaching staff?

We believe it is important that teachers understand the DNA-V model that underpins Connect.

That’s why we provide training through pre-recorded online learning, a full-day online DNA-V training session and live Question & Answer webinars throughout the year.

This helps teachers to:

✨ Understand the model and use it effectively when delivering Connect lesson plans.

💬 Become familiar with the language and principles of the model, helping schools develop a shared approach.

We want teachers to feel supported and confident in using Connect, while creating an environment where the language of wellbeing becomes part of everyday school life. 💛

✨ What Makes Connect Different?

Helping Children Understand Their Inner World

Children are constantly experiencing thoughts, feelings and emotions — but learning how to understand and respond to these experiences is a skill in itself. 💭

Connect helps children notice their inner experiences and learn to respond to them in flexible and useful ways.

These skills can support children as they navigate challenges, understand themselves and develop their wellbeing — both in school and throughout life. 🌱

Understanding ourselves is a lifelong skill.

🌱 What is ACT and how does it underpin Connect?

The Connect Curriculum is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the developmentally sensitive DNA-V model.

ACT focuses on psychological flexibility — helping children learn to experience their thoughts and feelings, including the difficult ones, while continuing to move in the direction of their values.

The DNA-V model provides an age-appropriate framework for helping children and teachers talk about thoughts, feelings and behaviour in ways that support wellbeing.

💛 This approach forms the foundation of Connect and the skills we aim to develop throughout the curriculum.

🌟 Sharing our work at BERA 2026

We were delighted to have the opportunity to share our work at the 2026 British Educational Research Association (BERA) conference in Manchester this week.

Dr Atiyya Nisar and Dr Corinna Grindle presented research exploring pupil voice and children’s experiences of the Connect PSHE curriculum, alongside our work on the development and evaluation of Connect-SEND, adapting the curriculum for pupils with SEND.

It was a great opportunity to bring these areas of work together and contribute to discussions about inclusive, evidence-informed wellbeing education in schools.

A big thank you to BERA for creating a space for researchers and educators to share research, ideas and practice.

A practical resource for supporting children’s wellbeing. 🌱

The Science of Children’s Wellbeing includes 36 practical, step-by-step sessions, alongside associated resources, written by the Connect team.

Designed for children aged 7–11, the book draws on the scientifically grounded Six Ways to Wellbeing and the DNA-V model.

The sessions can be delivered with:

✨ A whole class
✨ Small groups
✨ Children who may benefit from targeted wellbeing support
✨ One-to-one contexts

The aim is to make psychological science practical and accessible for the people supporting children every day.

A resource designed to help children build skills for wellbeing, resilience and navigating life's challenges. 💚

We absolutely love this feedback! 💚

“As a psychologist, a researcher, and a mother, I feel so grateful, thankful, and appreciative of this rigorous, well thought-out, structured, data-based and powerful program.”

Thank you to Melina Rivard PhD, Professor of Psychology, for these kind words about Connect.

We’ve worked hard to create a programme that brings together psychological science, research and practical classroom activities to support children’s wellbeing.

Because when it comes to helping children thrive, we believe the evidence really does matter. 🌱💚

🌱 What if we could help children build the skills they need for life's challenges before those challenges arise?

That's the thinking behind Connect.

Our approach focuses on prevention and early intervention, helping children develop practical psychological and emotional skills that they can use throughout their lives.

From understanding themselves and managing emotions to navigating challenges and building resilience, Connect gives children opportunities to practise skills that support their wellbeing — not just today, but long into the future.

Because prevention isn't about waiting for something to go wrong.

It's about giving children the skills to meet life's ups and downs with confidence, flexibility and resilience. 💚

✨ That's what makes Connect different.

What happens when children have the opportunity to be discoverers again?

Children are naturally curious. They want to explore, ask questions, try things out and make sense of the world around them.

But in increasingly structured lives, are we giving children enough space for discovery?

Our latest blog, ‘Getting back to being a Discoverer’, explores the importance of curiosity, exploration and discovery for children — and how we can help create more opportunities for these experiences.

✍️ Written by Dr Corinna Grindle, Research Lead for the Connect Curriculum.
