Esh Winning Academy

A massive thank you to Wall's Whippy for giving our Year 6s a last afternoon to remember, full of ice cream.

We are so lucky at Esh Winning Academy to have John and Malcom leading our Gardening club! We have learned lots of new skills, including how to grow tomatoes, peas, potatoes, strawberries and green beans!
Our fabulous cook Mrs Richardson boiled our home grown potatoes and then explained to our children how these can be made into chips, mash and roast potatoes!
We can't wait to see what we do next in the Gardening Club!

We are absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news with our school community!

Diane Arrowsmith and her amazing Zumba team recently held two fantastic fundraising events for our school. Thanks to their high energy, hard work, and spectacular efforts across both sessions, they raised a massive £900! 🪩✨

This fantastic amount will go a long way in supporting our students and funding school projects. We are incredibly grateful for your time, dedication, and generosity.

Year 5 had a fabulous week last week. We started the week off doing fun activities with Anna Nicholson, a paralympian shot putter, before heading to Durham Academy, where the children had a great afternoon in the science lab making slingshots or catapults. On Wednesday, we had great fun on the bouncy obstacle course, where many children faced their fears of heights to climb the ladder before heading down the slide. On Thursday, we had a great morning looking at environmental issues before litter picking around the village. On Thursday afternoon, we were visited by the River Wear Trust, where we looked at what could be found in our local river, before classifying the river wildlife. We ended the week with a fantastic visit to the Life Centre, where we spent the day investigating a range of science inventions before concluding the day investigating Earth and Space in one of the laboratories. We all had a fabulous week and the children were a credit to our school. Well done Year 5!

We are incredibly proud of our children's hard work, determination, and energy. Every single penny raised will go directly towards exciting new sports equipment to keep our children active, healthy, and smiling.

We had a very special guest keeping us company last week! Reg the Wise Attendance Owl dropped by, and it is safe to say he has been a massive hit with the children.🦉

He certainly made the most of his visit—joining in the fun at our Summer Fayre, popping into classrooms for some quick selfies, and cheering everyone on during the Rainbow Parade. 🌈

We are absolutely overwhelmed by the support at our Summer Fayre. Community spirit was at an all-time high, and we couldn't have done it without every single one of you.
