Year 6 Familiarisation Day was a great success!
From energetic sports activities to thoughtful debates and creative poetry sessions, pupils threw themselves into every opportunity with enthusiasm and confidence. They also had the chance to settle into their new houses and enjoy the much-loved tradition of toast together, making the day feel even more special and welcoming.
It was a wonderful way to help them feel prepared and excited for the year ahead, building friendships, confidence, and a real sense of belonging within their new teams. A huge thank you to our Durham School Monitors for their fantastic support throughout the day - your help, leadership, and positivity made everything run so smoothly.

FS2 Enjoy Their First French Lesson.
FS2 had a wonderful time during their very first French lesson with Mrs Tuimoala. The children immersed themselves in French language and culture as they listened to The Very Hungry Caterpillar being read in French.
Wearing their berets and proudly waving French flags, the children learned how to say hello and goodbye, talk about how they were feeling, and introduce themselves in French. They embraced the experience with great enthusiasm and confidence, making it a fun and memorable lesson for everyone.
This exciting introduction to French will help prepare the children for their transition into Year 1 in September, when they will begin learning French regularly with Mrs Tuimoala. We look forward to seeing their language skills continue to grow in the years ahead.

Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic visit to Crook Hall, where they brought their Science learning to life through exploring plants and habitats in the beautiful gardens.
The children showed great curiosity and enthusiasm as they developed their observation and enquiry skills. A wonderful day of learning beyond the classroom!

A huge thank you to Dr Amaleena Damlé, Director of French at Durham University, for generously giving up her time to visit our FS1 class and share her love of French with the children.
Dr Damlé led a wonderful interactive session, reading a story about a dinosaur, accompanied by Mrs Tuimoala and our very own little dinosaur helper! The children thoroughly enjoyed the engaging and imaginative experience.
We are incredibly grateful for her time, enthusiasm, and for making this such a special learning opportunity for our youngest pupils. Thank you again, Dr Damlé!
